The Clippers-Suns playoff series was supposed to be the Kawhi Leonard versus Kevin Durant showdown we’ve been waiting for all these years. For the first two games it was a glorious battle, but then injuries spoiled the party once again.
Leonard suffered a knee sprain in Game 2 and while he finished the contest he hasn’t been seen since. The series was 1-1 at that point heading back to LA, but without Leonard the Clippers predictably dropped the next two games.
Now, the Suns can close out the series at home on Tuesday, and online sportsbooks are extremely bullish on their chances in the NBA odds.

Clippers vs Suns Injury Report
Not only is Kawhi out for LA, but the Clippers will also be without their second best player Paul George (knee). PG-13 hasn’t played since March 21st, but is making significant progress in his rehab. If somehow LA can push the series beyond Game 5, there’s a chance George could potentially return in a Game 6 or 7 scenario.

As for the Suns, they’re getting healthier. Cameron Payne, team’s backup point guard, is trending towards playing. Payne hasn’t suited up all series due to a back injury, but it listed as probable for Tuesday’s contest.
Clippers vs Suns Betting Splits
Despite the absences of Leonard and George, LA is getting plenty of love in the betting market. The Clippers are currently garnering 68% of the spread tickets as 12 point underdogs, and 72% of the ATS handle.
Total wise, there’s a divide between the public and the big money bettors. The public is on over 224.5 to the tune of 62% of the over/under tickets. Those wagers only make up 46% of the total handle though, meaning those who bet biggest are leaning towards the under.
Clippers vs Suns Betting Stats
LA has performed admirably without George and Leonard, covering in Game 3 and pushing Phoenix in Game 4 before fading late. The Clippers grabbed an early 11 point lead, but had no answer for the Suns Big 3 down the stretch.
Both Durant and Devin Booker reached the 30-point mark, while Chris Paul poured in 12 points in the final quarter to seal the victory.
Teams that have taken a 3-1 series lead have gone on to advance in the NBA playoff bracket 95% of the time, and it’s hard to imagine Phoenix not following suit.
Clippers vs Suns Series Odds
Team | Odds to Win Series |
---|---|
LA Clippers | +3000 |
Phoenix Suns | -20000 |
The Suns are currently -20000 favorites to reach the second round, with LA coming back as +3000 underdogs.
Russell Westbrook has been doing everything in his power to prolong this series with back-to-back 30 point efforts, but the Clippers are just badly overmatched. Phoenix boasts the West’s top offensive rating this postseason, averaging 119.1 points per 100 possessions.
They’ve got a true shooting percentage of 60.5%, which is also tops in the conference, and have cleared 122 points in two of the last three games.
Clippers vs Suns Predictions
Leonard wasn’t just the Clippers best offensive player, he’s also their best defender. Without him, Durant and Booker have a major advantage over whoever is guarding them, and we should expect the Suns offense to be extremely efficient in Game 5.

The Kentucky product is shooting 43.5% from three during the playoffs, and has buried 10 of his last 20 three-point attempts. LA’s three-point defense was a problem during the regular season ranking 19th, and the postseason has produced similar results.
