It’s an American League East affair on Tuesday as the Boston Red Sox (12-11, 5-5 away) and the surging Baltimore Orioles (14-7, 7-3 home) meet in the second game of a three-game set at Camden Yards. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm ET.
It’s an interesting matchup on the mound. Corey Kluber gets the call for the Red Sox, while the O’s counter with Kyle Bradish, who just returned from the IL.
Red Sox vs Orioles Odds
Team | Moneyline | Runline | Total |
---|---|---|---|
Boston Red Sox | +115 | +1.5 (-170) | Ov 8.5 (-115) |
Baltimore Orioles | -135 | -1.5 (+145) | Un 8.5 (-105) |
The Orioles are the favorite with -135 moneyline odds, while the Red Sox come back at +115. However, Boston has won five of the last six against Baltimore ahead of Monday’s matchup.

Odds as of April 24th at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Boston vs Baltimore Probable Starters
Kluber has really been struggling through four starts. The former Cy Young winner owns an 8.50 ERA, giving up 18 earned runs and six homers already. Except for one outing against the Pirates, he’s had zero success.
This series with Baltimore is a big measuring stick for the Red Sox. The Orioles have won 6 straight games and are tied for the second best record in the A.L. (14-7) Is this Corey Kluber’s last stand? #DirtyWater pic.twitter.com/zBz86SVGHp

The veteran’s most recent start on April 19th was perhaps his worst yet, getting tagged for seven earned across five innings at Fenway vs Minnesota. Unfortunately, Kluber’s ERA sits at 4.26 lifetime against the Orioles, too. Not a good sign, especially since Baltimore is red-hot right now.
Kluber vs Bradish Stats
0-4 | Record | 1-0 |
8.50 | ERA | 0.00 |
18 | Innings Pitched | 7.2 |
17 | Strikeouts | 8 |
8 | Walks | 2 |
Bradish made his first appearance of the year on April 3rd but left early due to an injury. After just over two weeks sidelined, he returned on April 19th against Washington, putting together a respectable outing. Bradish grabbed his first win, lasting six innings, allowing five hits and no runs while striking out six.
That being said, the 26-year-old has been absolutely lit up by the Red Sox lineup in his career, compiling a dismal 7.54 ERA in five starts. That includes four homers and eight free passes. Bradish also tends to pitch worse at home.

Pitching is Hurting Boston
The Red Sox have one of the better MLB lineups around. They rank fourth in runs scored, 11th in team average, fourth in homers, and eighth in slugging. However, the pitching staff is downright brutal early on, collecting a dismal 5.10 ERA.
Basically, no starter is giving Boston any consistency, with Kutter Crawford’s 3.98 ERA the best in the rotation. These arms need to figure it out in a hurry and give the Red Sox a chance to actually compete.
Baltimore Showing Promise
The O’s just barely missed out on the playoffs last season and were seen as a serious dark horse before the season began. Needless to say, this young group is living up to expectations. Baltimore is riding a six-game unbeaten streak ahead of Monday’s series opener and sits at 14-7, which is good enough for second in the division.

Adley Rutschman, Ryan Mountcastle, and Austin Hays are leading the way offensively, while Tyler Wells is their best starter thus far, producing a 2.70 ERA. Rookie Grayson Rodriguez hasn’t yet found himself at the big league level but if the hard-throwing 23-year-old starts to figure it out, it’s going to help this rotation a lot.
Red Sox vs Orioles Prediction
Although Boston has a very good record in recent memory versus Baltimore, I really like how this ball club is playing lately. Plus, Kluber is just serving it up through four outings. Take the O’s.
Pick: Orioles moneyline (-135)
