Porcello and Tanaka Take Center Stage as Red Sox and Yankees Renew Rivalry

Baseball’s most heated rivalry resumes on Wednesday, May 9th as the Yankees host the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. The two teams have met 2,222 times since 1901, and yet every game they play is a reason for celebration.

That was especially true on Tuesday evening as 45,773 fans descended on the Bronx to cheer their hometown Yankees to a 3-2 victory over the Sox. The game had heroes (Aaron Judge), villains (Joe Kelly), and plenty of fireworks as Giancarlo Stanton homered twice. It was New York’s 16th victory in 17 games and they now find themselves tied for the AL East lead with – who else? – Boston.

His lofty ERA would be a major concern on some squads, but New York scores enough runs to make up for his occasional lapses on the mound.
