Red Bull Racing will be seeking to dominate the podium once again this weekend at the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen led wire to wire after seizing the pole in the first race of the 2023 season two weeks ago at the Bahrain Grand Prix, and was followed in second place by teammate Sergio Perez.
Verstappen returns to Saudi Arabia both as two-time defending F1 champion, and seeking a second straight Saudi Arabian Grand Prix win. But after earning the pole position at this race a year ago, Perez is poised to heat up his growing rivalry with his Red Bull teammate.
Here’s a look at all the odds and trends ahead of Sunday afternoon’s running of the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, with race time set for 1:00 pm ET at Jeddah Corniche Circuit.

Can Alonso Return to the Podium?
Fernando Alonso is coming off an impressive debut with his new team, racing to a third-place finish at Bahrain, and his first trip to the podium since claiming third place in Qatar in 2021. Alonso drove with confidence in a car he described as “lovely” to drive, providing every indication that Aston Martin is poised to join the list of top teams in F1, alongside McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari.

That is reflected in Alonso’s position on Sunday’s race odds, where he sits fourth on the board as a +900 bet to claim the checkered flag for the first time since 2013, and a lucrative -105 wager to return to the podium. Recent injuries sustained in a recent cycling accident have not slowed down Alonso’s teammate Lance Stroll. The Canadian also enjoyed a strong run in Bahrain, finishing sixth, and sports short -330 odds to finish in the points in Saudi Arabia for the first time in three appearances.

Mercedes, Ferrari Aim to Bounce Back from Shaky Starts
While the Red Bull duo of Verstappen and Perez wasted no time picking up where they left off last season, both Mercedes and Ferrari travel to Bahrain search for answers. Charles Leclerc was poised for a podium finish in Bahrain before suffering an engine failure that ended his night. That raises concerns that the technical and driving issues that ultimately led to his demise last season have not yet been addressed.
Thanks did not go much better for Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz, who was unable to fend off a challenge by Alonso while settling for fourth place, and is listed as a +1600 bet on Sunday.
Over at Mercedes, both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell struggled to maintain pace, and were clearly not in Red Bull’s class in Bahrain. A lengthy +2200 wager this time around, Hamilton won the inaugural edition of this race two years ago, but has failed to claim victory since.
The Picks: Sergio Perez podium finish (-110); Fernando Alonso podium finish (-105)
