New York continues their homestand after one of their more stirring victories on Monday. The Rangers needed overtime to defeat the Calgary Flames 5-4 in what may have been one of the most exciting games of the season.

Usually, the big efforts come from the top line but the kid line did some carrying of their own on Monday.  Filip Chytil scored again and then Alexis Lafreniere tallied in overtime. That supplemented Mika Zibanejad’s two goals in the overtime triumph. It became a back-and-forth contest which truly felt like a playoff game.

Igor Shesterkin stayed on the bench as Jaroslav Halak got the start for the Rangers. He stopped 28 of 32 shots in the win. Like we said, Filip Chytil scored twice along with Zibanejad. That gave Chytil 18 goals on the season. He possesses an outside chance at netting 30 this season. At home, New York represents a team with one dangerous offense.

The Canucks play a dangerous game and teams know it too. It is that fact which makes Vancouver difficult to match up with. Unfortunately, the Canucks play a deficient brand of defense that allows way too many scoring chances. That results in goals allowed that can come in bunches.
