Providence Betting Trends
Sophomore wing Bryce Hopkins has made a big impact for Providence in his first season since transferring from Kentucky.
Hopkins is averaging 16.5 points and 9.1 rebounds a game, both team-leading figures. He is also second in the Big East in rebounding and fifth in scoring.
In the win over Butler on Wednesday, Hopkins had 16 points and seven rebounds.

Freshman guard Corey Floyd Jr. and senior forward Clifton Moore added 12 points apiece off the bench. Sophomore guard Devin Carter notched his second double-double of the season as he finished with 10 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.
Senior guard Jared Bynum played 11 minutes in a reserve role after sitting out four games with an abdominal strain. Bynum, who started all 16 games this season before getting injured, contributed four points, three assists and one rebound.
Providence shot 55.6% (30 of 54) while limiting Butler to 37.9% (22 of 58). The Friars were also the more physical team, outrebounding Butler 42-24 and holding a commanding 48-20 advantage in points in the paint.
In addition to Hopkins, three other Providence players have double-figure scoring averages – Carter (13.1), senior forward Ed Crowell (12.5) and senior guard Noah Locke (10.7). Carter (South Carolina) and Locke (Louisville) are both transfers.
Croswell is pulling down 7.6 boards a game for the Friars, who are 38th in the nation in scoring with a 78.8 average.
Villanova Betting Trends
Senior guard Caleb Daniels has been a bright spot in a rough transition season for Villanova. He is averaging 16.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game.
The Wildcats have needed the back-to-back wins just to get to .500 in Kyle Neptune’s first year as head coach after replacing retired Hall of Famer Jay Wright.
Daniels is fourth in the conference in scoring. He shined in Villanova’s win over St. John’s as he had 16 points while making 4 of 7 three-point attempts.
Senior forward Brandon Slater added 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting. Daniels and Slater combined to go 10 of 17 from the field while the rest of the Wildcats went 9 of 35 as they shot just 36.5% (19 of 52) as a team.

However, Villanova’s defense helped overcome the poor shooting. The Wildcats held St. John’s to 18 of 56 (32.1%).
It was a sloppy game as Villanova had 16 turnovers and St. John’s committed 17.
Junior forward Eric Dixon is averaging 15.8 points and 6.6 rebounds for the Wildcats. Freshman forward Cam Whitmore is at 12.5 and 5.2 and Slater’s numbers are 11.1 and 5.2.
Villanova could get sophomore forward Jordan Longino back after a five-game absence with a left leg injury. The part-time starter has a 6.7 scoring average.
Despite its uncharacteristic season, Villanova’s 83.2 free throw percentage is tops in Division I.
Providence vs Villanova Prediction
Villanova beat Providence twice last season, including winning 76-74 at home behind Daniels’ 20 points. Bynum had a double-double for Providence with 15 points and 10 assists.
While Villanova has won two games in a row, Providence has been playing much better than the Wildcats recently and should win this one.
Pick: Providence +0.5 (-110)
Season record: 22-19 (+1.1 units) ATS, 1-6 (-4.5 units) ML
