St. John’s will try to end its five-game losing streak when it hosts Butler at 6:30 p.m. ET Tuesday in a Big East game at Carnesecca Arena in New York.
St. John’s (11-6, 8-2 home, 1-5 Big East) continued its skid when it dropped an 83-80 decision at Providence on Saturday. Butler (10-7, 2-3 road, 2-4 Big East) had its two-game winning streak ended emphatically Saturday, 76-51 at Seton Hall.

Butler Betting Outlook
Butler was out of the game against Seton Hall by halftime, falling behind 41-23 at the break.

Bates has made an impact for Butler after transferring from North Carolina State as he is averaging 13.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.1 blocked shots. His 64.5 field goal percentage is third in the Big East.
Senior guard Eric Hunter Jr. has been another impact transfer. The former Purdue player has averages of 10.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals.
Junior guard Chuck Harris is another Bulldogs player scoring in double digits with a 12.4 average.
St. John’s Betting Outlook
Senior center Joel Soriano continues to be a force for struggling St. John’s.
In the loss to Providence, Soriano notched his 14th double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds. He also made 8 of 9 field goal attempts.
Soriano is averaging 16.2 points, 12.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks a game. He leads the conference in rebounding, is fourth in scoring and his 60.9 field goal percentage ranks third.

Junior forward David Jones, a transfer from DePaul, is scoring 13.9 points and pulling down 7.1 rebounds a game
Another transfer, junior guard Andre Curbelo, is averaging 10.5 points, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals after previous playing at Illinois. He is fifth in assists in the Big East.
Curbelo had 12 points and four assists on Saturday, but St. John’s made just 4 of 15 shots (26.7%) from three-point range. Meanwhile, Providence shot 50.9% (27 of 53) to offset 16 turnovers forced by the Red Storm.
Junior guard Posh Alexander finished with 14 points, sophomore forward O’Mar Stanley contributed a season-high 13 points in 17 minutes off the bench and sophomore guard Rafael Pinzon chipped in with 10 points.
Alexander is second in the Big East with 2.1 steals a game.
St. John’s is averaging 79.1 points a game, which ranks 43rd nationally, but is 280th in scoring defense with a 72.9 average.
Butler vs St. John’s Prediction
St. John’s swept two games from Butler last season, including rolling to a 91-57 victory at home in which Alexander had 13 points and 10 assists. Taylor topped the Bulldogs with 19 points.
