Monday Night pits a pair of teams who have struggled to meet expectations against each other.
The Los Angeles Rams are the defending Super Bowl champions. But an offense featuring Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp now runs through Baker Mayfield and Ben Skowronek. Their star-studded defense is banged up too. Things haven’t gone according to plan with a painful Super Bowl hangover.
In Green Bay, the Packers are perennial contenders. So to not only see the Minnesota Vikings claim the NFC North, but to sit outside of the playoff picture entirely? Unacceptable. Especially after all of the will-he, won’t-he with Aaron Rodgers in the offseason.
Ultimately a win benefits the Packers more, but things could get ugly on a frigid night on the Frozen Tundra.

Vegas isn’t expecting another miraculous performance out of Baker Mayfield. After his heroics against the Raiders on Thursday night, the Packers are heavy home favorites. The total is interesting as four-straight Packers games have finished above the 40 point mark. Three of LA’s last six games have crossed that mark.

NFL Public Betting Trends are throwing their money behind the Packers to cover at over 60%, but it’s almost 50/50 when it comes to total bets. Green Bay is getting heavy action outright, while the public agrees that the total may be too low, leaning towards the over.
Rams vs Packers Injury Report
While there are some big names on the weekly injury report, the Rams Injured Reserve carries plenty of firepower. Both Stafford and Kupp are done for the year with Allen Robinson and a number of offensive linemen joining them.
Are we not talking enough about the Packers’ path to the playoffs? Good chance a 9-8 teams sneaks in. The 5-8 Packers have Rams, at Mia, Min, Det.

Aaron Donald highlights the defensive names on the injury report this week, leaving a massive hole along the defensive line.
Week 15 Injury Report
Rams | Injury, Status | Packers | Injury, Status |
---|---|---|---|
Brian Allen, C | Knee, Questionable | David Bakhtiari, T | Knee/Abdomen, OUT |
Marquise Copeland, DT | Ankle, OUT | Romeo Doubs, WR | Ankle, Unspecified |
Aaron Donald, DE | Ankle, OUT | N/A | N/A |
Travin Howard, LB | Hip, OUT | N/A | N/A |
David Long, DB | Groin, OUT | N/A | N/A |
John Wolford, QB | Neck, OUT | N/A | N/A |
For Green Bay, they had questions mid-week, but in most cases it was good news.
Aaron Jones was a limited participant all week with an ankle injury, but finished the week without a designation. Aaron Rodgers was a full participant despite thumb and rib injuries. Elgton Jenkins missed Thursday’s practice with a knee injury, but was back for Friday and Saturday.
More Mayfield Magic in Store?
Give Baker Mayfield credit. He was about as new as you could possibly be to the Rams’ playbook in Week 14 and still pulled off that miraculous comeback.
So with a few more practices under his belt, he’ll have a better handle on LA’s offense.
But when you look at his results from this season, was Mayfield’s comeback a sign of things to come or a flash in the pan?

Mayfield’s 62.8% completion percentage was his third-highest of the season. His 22 completions were tied for a season high, with the 35 attempts his second-most in 2022. It was also his second-highest QB Rating (91.4) and passing yardage total (230) in a single game.
Mayfield still got sacked four times though, and with the injuries along the Rams’ offensive line, that issue won’t go away. Neither will the fact that LA’s running game has been awful this year. Their running backs combined for just 66 yards on the ground last week.
Rams vs Packers Pick
Have Rodgers and the Packers been much better than the Rams this year? No. So at face value it could be hard to feel confident either way.
But putting too much stock into Mayfield’s Week 14 performance would be a mistake. That was a rare four minute stretch, and LA was losing 16-3 before suddenly waking up.
A warm-weather, dome team going on the road in frigid weather with a QB who’s a week and a half into the playbook? That’s not who you want to side with.
The Pick: Green Bay Packers -7.0 (-115); 1 unit
