Brazil put in an impressive performance in their opening match to see off Serbia by a score of two goals to nil. Tite’s team were the favorites to lift the trophy in World Cup odds prior to the tournament, and have started in fine form. They face a Switzerland side who beat Cameroon 1-0 on matchday one.
Curiously, Switzerland have been a difficult opponent for Brazil over the years, with the South American side winning just three of their nine meetings. The Swiss held Brazil to a 1-1 draw in Russia four years ago.

Switzerland have made it out of the group stage at three of the last four World Cups, and have won their last four competitive matches, but a Swiss win has an implied probability of just 14.3% for this fixture. Brazil are understandably heavy favorites having won eight matches in a row. A Seleção haven’t lost a World Cup group match since a defeat to Norway in 1998.
Over/Under and Spread
The over/under for Brazil vs Switzerland is set at 2.5 with sportsbooks leaning slightly towards the over at a price of -116. The handicap sets Brazil Brazil -1 at a price of +140. The betting markets also price both teams to score at -106 with Brazil having kept a clean sheet in six of their last eight matches.
Brazil vs Switzerland Preview
Neymar’s injury is the biggest story in the lead up to this match, with the PSG star ruled out for at least the remainder of the group stage. Tite is spoilt for choice when it comes to replacing Neymar, with Gabriel Martinelli, Antony, and Rodrygo among the options if he opts to name a similarly attacking XI. Alternatively, he could add another body to the midfield and bring in Fred or Bruno Guimarães.

Typically, Switzerland were effective if a bit uninspiring in their win over Cameroon. They had eight shots to Cameroon’s nine, and only just edged the possession battle. Their attack was lacking a spark with Xherdan Shaqiri well past his best. Chance creation is a concern against this Brazil defense, which boasts such a great record in 2022. The Swiss have scored just six goals in their last seven matches.
Naturally, Brazil will be on the front foot from the first whistle here. A victory will guarantee their place in the last 16, providing Serbia avoid defeat to Cameroon. Neymar’s injury is an obvious blow, but this squad is equipped with numerous other creative talents to compensate for his absence. However Tite opts to balance the side, the Canarinho should be in control.

Brazil vs Switzerland Prediction
Where Switzerland had to grind out a win over Cameroon, Brazil were imperious against one of the tournament dark horses in Serbia. A total of 23 shots to five is dominance, and the sort of display which will have many other contending nations fearful of facing Tite’s side later in the competition.

It would take a lot to bet against Brazil in this group stage. Switzerland’s defense has kept just two clean sheets in 2022 and there is little sign their attack can keep pace with the firepower of Brazil, even with Neymar watching on from the sidelines.
A repeat of Brazil’s 2-0 victory against Serbia is a probable outcome here, and represents value in the correct score market at +600. The favorites to win straight up is a short price at -210, so it is worth delving into the same-game parlay markets.
Pick: Brazil to win and over 1.5 total goals (-130)
