John Herdman added fuel to the fire after his side’s first game, saying they’re going to “Eff Croatia.” If there wasn’t enough motivation behind this massive Group F clash at the World Cup, you better believe Canada and Croatia will be leaving it all out on the pitch Sunday at Khalifa International Stadium in Al Rayyan. The kick-off is scheduled for 11 PM ET.
The Canadians opened eyes on Wednesday, outplaying Belgium in a 1-0 defeat, with Michy Batshuayi catching the backline sleeping just before halftime. The Croatians meanwhile played to a scoreless stalemate with Morocco.

There isn’t any clear favorite here, but Croatia sits just above Canada with World Cup odds of +110 for Sunday’s encounter. The visitors come back at +250.
Over/Under & Spread
The total is set at 2.5 goals, with the over coming in at +100. The under sits at -122. Both teams are yet to score in this World Cup. This is the first-ever meeting between Croatia and Canada.
Croatia vs Canada Preview
After losing in the finals in 2018 to France, expectations are still high for a Croatian side that hasn’t exactly looked all that great since their heroic run. Unfortunately, their first game didn’t go as planned either, settling for a draw with Morocco. Chances were few and far between for Zlatko Dalic’s men, despite controlling 65% of the ball.
Canada's coach John Herdman: we're going to "f*ck Croatia"
Croatian tabloid 24sata: “You have a big mouth [but] do you have the balls?” 😂 #CROCAN pic.twitter.com/gYeieh9Gph

In fact, Croatia had just five attempts in total and only two hit the target. If there wasn’t enough incentive for them heading into matchday two, Herdman’s comments irked not only the players but also the tabloids back home, who put the Canada boss on the front page with a vulgar photo and message. With one of the best midfields in Qatar headlined by Mateo Kovacic and Luka Modric, the Croatians will be feeling confident that the full three points can be secured here, making Herdman eat his words in the process.

If you didn’t know what Canada was all about before Wednesday, you now do. The Canucks waited 36 long years to make just their second World Cup appearance ever and although the end product lacked, Herdman’s group made a serious statement, frankly outplaying #2 ranked Belgium.

To put their dominance into perspective, the Canadians had 22 total attempts but just three on goal. Alphonso Davies had the opportunity to put his side ahead early in the first half from the spot, but Thibaut Courtois saved the PK. There were also a couple of questionable calls that should’ve gone Canada’s way in the box, but regardless, they had the chances to score. The quality in the final third needs to be a lot better Sunday.

Croatia vs Canada Prediction
This is an absolutely crucial encounter for both teams in their pursuit of a spot in the knockout stages. Canada proved they belong on the world stage earlier in the week and will undoubtedly be oozing with confidence against the Croatians. But, this midfield is one of the best in the world and should be able to contain a rather inexperienced Canadian squad. I think you’ll see them share the spoils here.
Pick: Draw +230
