Following the official approval, these ten online MD sportsbooks will receive a hearing with SWARC on Nov. 21, leading to a potential launch of online Maryland sports betting in late Nov. or early Dec. 2022.
The ten online sports betting operators had internal controls approved along with a successful controlled demonstration to MLGCA.
Maryland Online Sports Betting Can Launch After Nov. 21
Online Maryland sports betting is now set to launch after the Nov. 21 SWARC review. With SWARC (Sports Wagering Application Review Commission) starting their license review process on Nov. 21, Maryland online sports betting sites will likely go live in early Dec. at the latest.
Jim Nielsen of the MLGCA has already commented that the commission will also be reviewing ten additional retail sportsbook applications during the Oct. 27 meeting. Maryland retail sportsbooks have been operational since Dec. 2021, and after nearly a full year of delays, online Maryland sports betting is now anticipated to launch sometime between Nov. 21 and Dec. 5 at the latest.
