Perennial favorites in Ligue 1 odds, PSG come off their Champions League win in midweek to take on Lyon on Sunday. The match is taking place at Lyon’s Groupama Stadium on Sunday, September 19th and is scheduled to kick off at 2:45pm ET.
This is the eighth round of Ligue 1 fixtures in 2022-23, and PSG head into this matchweek sitting top of the table ahead of Marseille on goal difference.
PSG have won on three of their last four away matches against Lyon, but they were held to a 1-1 draw in this fixture in 2021-22. Below, we have run through the statistics, injury news and more to make our Lyon vs PSG prediction.

Over/Under and Spread
As is the case in every domestic match, PSG are comfortable favorites for their trip to Lyon. The spread is set at just 0.5, with a short price of -170 on PSG -0.5. Goals are expected here with the total at 3.5 and a price of just -110 on the over. Both teams to score has cashed in the last three meetings between these sides — BTTS is priced at -220 here, good for an implied probability of 68.8%.
Lyon vs PSG Betting Preview
Goals seem to be inevitable in this match. There have been over 2.5 total goals in Lyon’s last nine home league matches, and the same goes for PSG’s last nine Ligue 1 fixtures on the road. Lyon haven’t been in the best of form, losing their last two, but their attack remains potent. Only PSG have amassed more expected goals so far this season.
Fatigue could be a factor for this fixture, though. Christophe Galtier named an almost full-strength side for PSG’s midweek win over Maccabi Haifa, and Les Parisiens had to work for victory after falling behind in the first half. Lyon have suffered defeat to Lorient and Monaco on the last two matchdays, but they have the added benefit of a full week to prepare for this match.

Peter Bosz has almost a full squad to choose from, too. Consistency is clearly a concern for this Lyon side, and they are not expected to make a push for the title, but they have individual quality which makes them a candidate to cause an upset in fixtures like this. Their recent record against PSG is also quietly impressive, with four points taken from the four previous league matches.
Kylian Mbappe To Score Odds
Kylian Mbappe is priced at -145 to score anytime on Sunday, which works out to an implied probability of 59.2%. That probability seems on the low side — Mbappe has failed to score just twice in eight starts across Ligue 1 and the Champions League so far this term. He’s scored five goals in four matches and 10 for the campaign.
Call me crazy, but I'm beginning to think having Messi play chipped through balls for Neymar and Mbappé might be an effective football tactic. https://t.co/cCG3FTGVDo

His 1.13 expected goals per 90 is comfortably the best of any player to record over 250 Ligue 1 minutes in 2022-23. Of course, he’s got happy memories facing Lyon too, with 11 goals in 12 matches, including his stunning four-goal performance back in 2018-19.
With Lyon conceding five in their last two matches, chances are bound to be plentiful for Mbappe in this one. There’s definite value in the anytime goalscorer market.

Lyon vs PSG Pick
This should be one of the most entertaining games of the weekend. Lyon are a proactive team, as illustrated by their high number of pressures and tendency to dominate the ball. Their attack will trouble PSG at times.

At the other end of the pitch, PSG’s front three is going to have plenty of success of its own. Despite being outscored by Neymar in the league so far, Mbappe is the obvious beneficiary from such chance creation. PSG should have too much for the hosts, though recent history shows Lyon have what it takes to get something from this fixture.
Both teams to score is a no-brainer bet here, yet at -220, it really needs to go in a same-game parlay. Add in Mbappe as an anytime scorer, and we get to +115 which looks great value. For those keen to back PSG, putting their moneyline into this parlay gets it up to +240.
Pick: BTTS and Kylian Mbappe to score anytime (+115)
