Chicago vs Cleveland Probable Pitchers
The 34-year-old Lynn — who finished third in AL Cy Young Award balloting in 2021 — missed the first two-plus months of the season after an MRI revealed a slight tear in a knee tendon. Since his return in mid-June, the South Siders have gone 10-7 with the big right-hander on the bump. He’s tossed eight quality starts, including four in a row and five of his last six.

The two-time All-Star has been especially sharp in his last three turns, going 3-0 with a 0.45 ERA over 20 innings. He went six innings last Saturday against the A’s, allowing three hits, no earned runs and a walk while striking out five in a 10-2 victory.
Meantime, Gaddis is being recalled from AAA Columbus to make the spot start on Thursday. The 24-year-old got roughed up in his big league debut back on August 5th against Houston. The Astros greeted the rookie with seven hits and eight earned runs over his 3.1 innings of work in an eventual 9-3 loss.

The 6-foot-6 behemoth is 7-5 with a 4.15 ERA in 22 games — including 21 starts — for Columbus and Class AA Akron. He’s struck out 145 and walked 41 in 110.2 innings. The franchise drafted Gaddis in the fifth round in 2019 out of Georgia State. He is one of 15 rookies to make their big league debut this year for the first-place team.

4.07 | ERA | 21.60 |
3.64 | xERA | 8.80 |

The White Sox lost five straight at the end of August. But after Miguel Cairo took over for Tony La Russa as interim manager (after the Hall of Fame skipper needed to address a medical issue), Chicago have won 10 of their last 14 games. For a team that underachieved for the first five months of the season, the Pale Hose are now hitting their stride.
Recent waiver pickup Elvis Andrus has hit .305, six doubles, 5 homers, 20 RBI in 23 games since joining the clubs. Plus, Dylan Cease (10-4, 1.17 ERA, .162 opponent’s batting average in his last 19 starts) is the odds-on favorite to win the AL Cy Young Award this season. Andrus — part of a pair of World Series teams in Texas early in his career — is excited to be back in the postseason chase.
Elvis Andrus on chasing Cleveland:
"They've been playing perfect until now. If we keep winning series, we know that sooner or later they're going to crumble, the closer we get. Tomorrow's going to be a really good game for us to go out there and put a statement."

The Pale Hose are coming off a two-game series split with the Rockies in Colorado.
Meantime, José RamÃrez hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the eighth inning on Wednesday — his 27th of the season to go along with 111 RBI — as the Guardians beat the Angels 5-3 for their sixth straight win.,
Cleveland has +5500 odds to win the Fall Classic, while Chicago is at +8000 in the World Series odds.

White Sox vs Guardians Prediction
Following the game against Chicago, Cleveland a five-game series against Minnesota over the weekend. Then three more games against the White Sox in Chicago next week. With a seemingly overmatched rookie on the mound for the home team, the smart money is on Lynn in this one.
