Published:

- The Air Force Falcons are 16.5 point road favorites over the Wyoming Cowboys in a college football game scheduled for Friday, September 16
- Air Force is 11-3 against the spread since the beginning of the 2021 season
- The total has gone under in 11 of the past 14 games between the Falcons and Cowboys
As they face the Wyoming Cowboys (2-1) in a Mountain West Conference season opener for both schools, there are few better against the spread locks in college football than the Air Force Falcons (2-0).
Since the start of the 2021 season, Air Force is 11-3 ATS. That includes a 2-0 ATS slate this season, and six-game ATS win streak over the past six games.
When they play at Wyoming, though, the Falcons haven’t exactly soared. They are 4-3 straight up there in the last seven games in Laramie, but 0-5 ATS over the past five road games against the Cowboys.
Nonetheless, oddsmakers are going with the Falcons as 16.5-point road favorites in this game. Air Force is 10-6-1 ATS in the last 17 games that the school took the field as the double-digit point chalk.

In terms of NCAA public betting trends, the bettors are ready to take to the sky with the Falcons. Air Force is drawing 77% of spread bets. The Falcons are garnering 88% of bets in the moneyline public splits. Where the total is concerned, 85% of all bets are going with the under.
In NCAA future bets, the Falcons are +500000 in the National Championship odds. Air Force is the +300 third betting choice to win the Mountain West title. The Cowboys are the co-eighth pick to win the MWC at +3000.
Falcons Staying Firmly Planted
It may go against who they are training to be but on the football field, the Falcons prefer a strong ground game to pace their attack. In fact, Air Force is the nation’s #1 rushing offense.
The Falcons’ triple option offense already gained 1,017 yards on the ground through two games. That’s an average of 508.5 rushing yards per game and 7.7 yards per carry. Air Force has rushed for 10 touchdowns.

Falcons running back Brad Roberts is #5 in the NCAA in rushing with 288 yards. He’s #2 in rushing yards per game (144.0) and #3 in yards per carry (9.0). Roberts is also tied for #3 in rushing TDs (four).
In the Falcons’ 41-10 rout of the Colorado Buffaloes last week. Air Force quarterback Haaziq Daniels was just 1-for-5 through the air for eight yards.
Balance In Cowboys Offense
There’s more of a balance in the Wyoming offensive playbook, although it might be hard to argue that it’s a good balance. The Cowboys are 112th in the nation in rushing (143 YPG) and 64th passing (162.5 YPG).
Cowboys QB Andrew Peasley was 19-for-30 for 144 yards an no TDs in Wyoming’s 33-10 win over Northern Colorado. Titus Swan paced the run attack with 76 yards and three TDs. Wyatt Wieland caught five passes for 53 yards.

Getting the ball in the end zone against good teams and moving the ball in general is proving a problem for Wyoming. The Cowboys scored six points in a 38-6 loss to Illinois. Wyoming could only average 3.8 yards per play against FCS Northern Colorado.
Air Force vs Wyoming Prediction
Can the Cowboys contain the potent ground game of the Falcons? Wyoming is decent at defending the run. The Cowboys rank 49th in the nation, allowing 111.3 yards per game.
By comparison, though, the Air Force offense is vastly more dominant than that of Wyoming. The Falcons have more rushing yards (582) than Wyoming has total offense (305). Air Force is #17 in the NCAA in ball control, averaging over nine minutes per game more than Wyoming.
