The post-Big Ben Era begins for the Steelers in a place where the franchise has enjoyed much success over the years. See below Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals odds and analysis.
Meanwhile, Joe Burrow and Co. hope to carry the momentum from last season into the 2022 campaign as the Bengals are coming off the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance in 33 years. Cincy is nearly a touchdown favorite in this one.
Oddsmakers aren’t giving the Bengals much respect in current Super Bowl odds though. Meantime, with the big game set for State Farm Stadium in Glendale, sports betting is now legal in the Grand Canyon State. Check out AZ sports betting for more details.

Steelers vs Bengals NFL Betting Trends
As noted above, the Steelers have dominated this series in recent times, owning an 11-3 straight up record in their past 14 games against the Bengals. But that was with players like Antonio Brown and JuJu Smith-Schuster still around. Now, it’s the Bengals with the embarrassment of riches in the receiver room. Plus, Pittsburgh has not had the best of luck in season openers dating back to 2011. The team has only managed a 3-7-1 mark against the spread in the past 11 Week 1 games. Then, there’s this:

But with a fully-healed Burrow (the quarterback tore his ACL in Week 10 of his 2020 rookie season) seemingly ready to pick up where he left off last season, the same head coach and young roster intact, the Bengals figure to be on the rise. The franchise is 5-1 ATS in its last six divisional games and look to cover their ninth straight game overall here in Week 1. The club has also covered its previous seven conference matchups.
In NFL public betting trends, 59% of the bets placed against the spread are on the Bengals, while 84% of the public bets are on the Under (44.5).
Trubisky Era Begins
For the first time since 2003, Pittsburgh will have someone else beside Ben Roethlisberger under center. Former first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky — who led the Bears to the postseason twice as the primary starter — takes over the reins as signal caller.

Trubisky also adds some traits that Big Ben didn’t have — primarily the ability to throw the deep ball. Roethlisberger finished 22nd in pass attempts of 20-plus yards and had 3.4 air yards per attempt which ranked last in the NFL in 2021. Plus, Pittsburgh got great news on Friday, with receiver Diontae Johnson — who’s been battling a sore shoulder — saying he was a full participant in practice and declaring himself good to go on Sunday. It’s just about pain tolerance for the explosive player.

The quarterback will play behind an improved offensive line and also have rookie wideout George Pickens at his disposal.
Burrow Exceedingly Efficient vs Steelers
The Bengals quarterback had a completion percentage of 80.9 in two games against the Steelers. The former LSU standout was able to pick apart that defense en route to a season sweep. In their last meeting in Week 12, Burrow completed 83% of his passes for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Surprisingly, Burrow threw for fewer than 200 yards in both meetings — but when you can hand the ball off to Joe Mixon, it’s all good.
Just Joe Burrow politely wishing opposing defenses ‘luck’ ahead of Week 1. 😏
“You’ve gotta pick your poison.
If you play too high…you’re dealing with Joe Mixon in the run game.
If you play man…good luck.” #Bengals | @WLWT pic.twitter.com/NdkIq3VY0K— Olivia Ray (@OliviaRayTV) August 31, 2022
Mixon — who quietly had a career year in 2021 with 1,205 yards and 13 touchdowns — was also outstanding against Pittsburgh last year. He totaled 46 carries, 255 rushing yards (207 after contact), two rushing touchdowns, five runs of 10 yards or more and seven forced missed tackles. He’s definitely worth considering in your Steelers vs Bengals props.

Steelers vs Bengals Prediction
With defenses typically ahead of offenses early on, this one could be a mini-slugfest. Factor in Burrow not getting any snaps in the preseason due to undergoing an unexpected appendectomy in late July, and there’s an even greater chance at a relatively low-scoring affair. That favors the Steelers. Then again …
What Joe Burrow told us before his first NFL game. It’s wild what he did in his first full season. https://t.co/Z5ngzt8beB

It’s possible Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and offensive coordinator Matt Canada may opt for a conservative game plan while Trubisky gets his feet under him.
The current trends are too hard to ignore.
- The pick: Bengals -6.5 (-110); 1 unit
