The Mets (83-48, 44-21) edged the Dodgers 2-1 on the Wednesday night to even the series at one game each and win for the fourth time in their last six games. The Dodgers (90-39, 45-23 road) had their three-game winning streak snapped and lost for just the third time in their last 12 games.

The Dodgers lead the National League West by a whopping 18.5 games over the San Diego Padres. The Mets are three game in front of the Atlanta Braves in the NL East.

LAD vs NYM Probable Pitchers

Left-hander Clayton Kershaw (7-3, 2.64) is scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers against Chris Bassitt (11-7, 3.34). Kershaw has been on the injured list since Aug. 5 with lower back pain. Bassitt will be working on five days of rest.

Kershaw last pitched Aug. 4, leaving his start against the Giants after four innings in San Francisco. He gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits with four strikeouts and one walk.

Before being injured, Kershaw was 0-1 with a 5.27 ERA in his last three starts. That didn’t deter his interest in tennis.

Kershaw has an outstanding 11-1 record against the Mets with a 2.24 ERA in 17 starts. At Citi Field, he is 5-0 with a 1.78 ERA in eight outings.

On the road this season, Kershaw is 5-3 with a 2.50 ERA in nine starts. He is 4-1 with a 1.83 ERA in eight starts during the day. The Dodgers are 9-6 in Kershaw’s starts.

Bassitt is coming off an outstanding August in which he was 4-0 with a 1.52 ERA in five starts. He had a no-decision against the Colorado Rockies last Friday at Citi Field when he allowed four runs and eight hits in 7.1 innings while striking out one and walking one.

Bassitt has lost both career starts against the Dodgers with a 5.25 ERA.

His NL Cy Young odds are +25000. That endears Bassitt to his teammates.

In 13 starts in Flushing this season, Bassitt has a 4-5 mark and 2.75 ERA. He is 6-1 with a 2.37 ERA in eight starts in the daytime. The Mets are playing at a .667 clip when Bassitt pitches with a 16-8 record.

Dodgers vs Mets Betting Trends

Starling Marte hit a two-run home run to account for all the Mets’ scoring Wednesday night when they edged the Dodgers by a run.

Brandon Nimmo and Francisco Lindor added two hits each for the Mets. And Edwin Diaz got the save to the strains of Timmy Trumpet, which made Mr. & Mrs. Met ecstatic.

Mookie Betts homered for the Dodgers, who were held to three singles.

The Mets placed rookie third baseman Brent Baty on the injured list before the game after learning he will need season-ending surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb. Outfielder and pinch runner extraordinaire Terrance Gore was called up from Triple-A Syracuse.

The teams have split six games this season. However, since losing to the Mets in a 2015 National League Division Series, the Dodgers are 28-11 against New York.

Dodgers vs Mets Prediction

It’s easy to wonder if Kershaw will be rusty without the benefit of making at least one rehab start in the minor leagues. That adds to the attractiveness of the Mets, especially with Bassitt coming off a big month as an underdog.

Pick: Mets ML (+125)
