Rogers Beats Fellow American

29-year old Rogers improved to 3-0 against fellow American Amanda Anisimova, when she defeated her 6-4, 6-4, to earn the last spot in this year’s semifinals.

Rogers has yet to lose a set this week, and only managed to lose 18 games. On route to her win, Rogers hammered 14 winners to just three unforced errors, while had more winners with 16, also had many more unforced errors with 29.

Rogers is now the last American standing in the tournament.

Kudermetova Defeats Ons Jabeur

Kudermetova has had a strong week in California. The 25-year old has only dropped one set, in her first match, all tournament. She’s went on to defeat Camila Giorgi, Claire Liu, Ons Jabeur to earn her spot in the final four.

The ninth seed defeated Jabeur 7-6(5), 6-2, in just over an hour and a half, improving to 6-0 against the World No. 5 player. Kudermetova went on to hit 30 winners, including seven aces, to Jabeur’s 17.

This is the third time Rogers and Kudermetova will go head-to-head in their careers. Their current head-to-head is split at 1-1, with Rogers taking the first matchup in 2021, and Kudermetova winning their most recent earlier this year in Miami.
