Man City Full of Scorers From Midfield

While Real Madrid are already champions-elect in La Liga,  Man City – while still at the top of the Premier League – have plenty of work to do to fight off the challenge of Liverpool. The EPL is still in the melting pot but the two top-scoring teams in the league will be unphased by having to turn their attention to the Champions League.

City don’t have a Mo Salah in their ranks but instead, have lots of players from lots of positions all capable of chipping in with a goal, therefore making the anytime goalscorer bet an appealing one.

For Los Blancos, it’s impossible to look past Benzema as he remains in plus money, but for some value, for me, it’s more a question of picking which City midfielder will make those timely forward runs that Pep Guardiola demands. Bernardo Silva at +270 looks a very worthy shout.

Pick: Bernardo Silva as anytime scorer (+270)

Modric Looking for Another ‘Pass of the Decade’?

With Kevin de Bruyne being City’s most creative force, he’s always listed at short odds for an assist, and while in plus money should never be ignored. Even at +175, the Belgian superstar offers value, especially given how much of the ball City will expect to have tonight – give him enough touches and he’ll eventually produce something.

But the real value here lies with one of the visitors. Anyone who saw the sublime, outside-of-the-boot pass played by Luka Modric in Real’s second-leg quarterfinal against Chelsea – a pass described on UK radio as ‘the pass of the decade‘ – will know what I mean when I say that the +500 on offer for an assist from the Croatian is far too good to ignore.

Pick: Luka Modric to provide an assist (+500)

Mane Looking to Bounce Back in Style

In terms of who takes most shots at goal, never look further than Liverpool’s Mo Salah. For all of the Egyptian undoubted quality, he’s picked up a reputation for being ‘blinkered’ in front of goal, often ignoring the option of a simple pass to a team-mate in favor of taking a shot himself. For him to be in plus money for over four shots could be deemed easy money.

For me though, there’s an even better bet. Salah’s strike partner, Sadio Mane, had a forgettable Merseyside derby at the weekend and will be looking to regain his touch on this massive stage. At +170 to take more than three shots, the Senegalese striker looks even better value than his team-mate, especially with the Reds expected to totally dominate possession.

Pick: Sadio Mane to have more than three shots ( +170).
