The USA’s national team undoubtedly needs to get back on track when it hosts Honduras in World Cup qualifying on Wednesday.
Folliowng a 2-0 defeat by group leaders Canada on Sunday, the American side sits second in the CONCACAF eight-team Third Round “Octagon” section.
However, it is markedly only one point ahead of fourth-placed Panama. And the first three finishers automatically reach next winter’s final tournament in Dubai.
Meanwhile, Honduras is now out of the running for qualification. It is in the bottom place and without a win in 10 fixtures.

Odds as of February 1 at Barstool
Therefore, the odds clearly show that Barstool Sportsbook make the USA a massive favorite for a win at -625.
And that home team goal-scoring is certainly expected. Indeed, even a three-goals or more spread margin for the USA is priced at -137.
Honduras, furthermore, is a massive outsider at + 1400. Further, the draw also very wide at +540.

The game takes place at Allianz Field in freezing St Paul, Minnesota. Kick-off is at 7:30 pm ET.
Obviously, these odds are not very compelling.
USA Expected to Dominate
Particularly the spread option is limited, too. Presumably, this is because the USA promises to be so especially dominant.
Notwithstanding that fact, there is value in predicting the correct score.
At +800, therefore, the price for a 4-0 home win is particularly attractive.

There is also concurrently a good prop on offer for predicting the half-time score. A 2-0 lead for the USA at the break is priced at +410.
Altogether, there are three rounds of fixtures remaining. And it is tight at the top.
Canada emphatically leads the section by four points.
USA won 4-1 against Honduras in San Pedro earlier in the tournament.
Additionally, the USA is presently second with 18 points. Statistically, it has a slightly better goal difference advantage of one ahead of third-placed Mexico.

*Stats from CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying Third Round.
So far there have been five wins, three draws and two defeats for the USA side.
However, it was unfortunate to slip to its second defeat against the Canadians.
Plenty of Goal Attempts Against Canada
Certainly, it was frustrating as the Americans enjoyed 64 percent possession and had 13 goal attempts to Canada’s eight.
But it nevertheless firstly fell to a seventh-minute goal from Cyle Larin. Then came a 95th-minute strike from Sam Adekugbe.

In a surprise setback, the only other defeat for the US side, moreover, was a 1-0 defeat in Panama last October.
Encouragingly, though, the team is well set up by coach Gregg Berhalter. In midfield, it is solid and productive.
Further upfront, however, its finishing has not been ruthless enough. So it has scored 13 goals against seven conceded.
This visit by Honduras basically offers an opportunity to get back among the goals.
Cautiously, the Central American team will, though, look to at least keep it tight and play “spoiler.”

Whether it can succeed in such an aim, however, is highly debatable.
Meanwhile, the Hondurans opened the campaign reasonably well with three draws and that 4-1 hammering by the US.
Honduras Has Under-Achieved
That was representative of the fact that Honduras possesses an experienced line-up.
It has, however, under-achieved poorly.

Last weekend’s 2-0 setback against El Salvador, however, was its sixth straight defeat.
Its record in the USA is, additionally, very poor. There have been seven straight defeats in the past 12 years.
During that spell, it has simultaneously conceded 15 times while scoring only three goals.
The Honduran side has scored only five goals while conceding 19.
Particularly, there was a 6-0 win at home for the USA in 2017.
The Honduran side has correspondingly scored only five goals. Meanwhile, it has conceded 19. This is the worst record in the group.
ICYMI yesterday.
I used the phrase "stubbornly calm" to describe Gregg Berhalter's current outlook and I suspect that is part of a confidence play he's making at a tricky moment for his young team.
Even though it infuriates some outside observers.https://t.co/mizj4k0inm

Berhalter’s US side significantly faces two of its final three fixtures away from home. So it will be keen to win emphatically this time out.
USA Missed Out On Finals In 2018
USMNT missed the 2018 tournament in Russia. So it is indeed keen to resume its regular place at the finals.
And, to sum up, the USA should be in a hungry mood in this fixture.
Surely, it is very capable of securing a big win on home soil. This would fire it optimistically towards the next set of qualifying fixtures.
