The controversial Saudi International will tee off for the fourth time this week, with two-time champion Dustin Johnson the betting favorite to win the title yet again. This event used to be hosted by the European Tour, but it has now become the crown jewel of the Asian Tour amid speculation that top players wouldn’t be allowed to compete.
A lot of money has been thrown at several big names to participate. The total purse is $5 million, up from $3.5 million last year.
An agreement was made that will bring some of the top players in the sport together, but the understanding is that PGA Tour golfers commit to playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in the following years. Patrick Cantlay is the betting favorite in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am odds, as he and Jordan Spieth are the only top-15 golfers teeing it up at Pebble this week.
Going low is imperative for success, with the three times this tournament has been contested averaging a winning score of 15-under-par.

Dustin Johnson Owns This Tournament
Normally wagering on the betting favorite for a tournament is a risky proposition, especially if their odds are super short. However, even though he’s the +800 betting fave, Dustin Johnson still has reasonable enough odds, especially given his dominance at this event.

In the three years the Saudi International has been contested, DJ has lifted the trophy twice, and in the other year, was second to Graeme McDowell. The reason his odds aren’t even lower is because since winning last year’s iteration, he hasn’t won anywhere in the last 19 times he’s teed it up.
He does have top-10’s in four of his last eight tourneys, and comes off a respectable T-25th at the Farmers Insurance Open, making him a great bet this week.

2022 Saudi International Best Value Picks
- Shane Lowry (+2200): The 2019 Open Champion has been quietly playing some solid golf of late, posting three straight top-25’s, highlighted by a T-9th at the DP World Tour Championship. In the two times he’s played at this track, the Irishman has posted a pair of top-30’s. Ten other golfers have shorter odds than him.
- Jason Kokrak (+4000): After struggling to pick up that elusive victory on the PGA Tour for many years, Jason Kokrak has busted through in big way, as he won three times in just over a year. He’s coming off a solid T-17th showing in his last start at the Sony Open and just three starts ago picked up win number three in Houston.
- Justin Harding (+7000): Just last weekend South African Justin Harding nearly won his third DP World Tour event, as he led after 54 holes. He eventually finished in a tie for fourth, and he was T-6th two starts before that on the South African Tour. His two wins have come since 2019, and in that year, he posted a T-11th at this championship.
