Yesterday was a momentous day for sports bettors in New York. Four online sportsbooks launched in NY, including Caesars Sportsbook New York.
The Google Trends search results for sports-betting terms in the state rose sharply and the excitement on social media was palpable.

Grab a New York VPN! (But Seriously, Don’t)
While it’s certainly not wise to falsify your location in order to register at a sportsbook, it’s hard to disagree with the sentiment behind this tweet.
Guys you need to switch to New York on your Sportsbook location and make a whole new account for Caesars. This is fugazi

In all seriousness, though, it’s a terrible idea to lie about your location during the registration process at any sportsbook. If you provide false information, you are violating the terms of service and are likely to be banned. It’s unclear whether you would get your deposit back, and it’s highly unlikely the sportsbook would allow you to withdraw any winnings.
Aside from the moral implications, the cost/benefit analysis weighs heavily in favor of “don’t do it”.
Zero Chill
One of Caesars big sign-up promos was an odds boost of sorts that allowed new customers to bet $10 on any team and win $100 if they scored a single point.
Well, New Yorkers understandably flocked to the Knicks for this one. And even though the promo details say that the bonus money will be doled out within 72 hours of the relevant game ending, this Twitter user was griping within above 15 minutes of the Knicks/Celtics game ending last night.

Rest assured, Caesars Sportsbook will issue the bonus money within the stated timeframe.
Even Zeroer Chill
Caesars Sportsbook NY didn’t have an ideal first day on the job. Likely due to traffic volume, the site was down for a short period of time.
It didn’t take long for the sportsbook to come back online, but it wasn’t soon enough to prevent users from taking some potshots.
We done broke it already! #CaesarsSportsbook I love New York! pic.twitter.com/ECQnBgx5Sq

Twitter had some equally good reactions to FanDuel NY joining the fray and the reactions are sure to keep coming as the days go by and New Yorkers get their first taste of legal online sports betting.
