Online Louisiana Sports Betting Expected to Launch in Late January

As Bayou State sports bettors continue to patiently wait for the arrival of online sports wagering in Louisiana, it appears as though that wait is soon coming to an end.

XLMedia regulatory writer and editor Rob Linnehan recently spoke with Louisiana Gaming Control Board Chairman Ronnie Johns, who said he expected online Louisiana sports betting to fully launch in late January. This would also mean the arrival of top online sportsbooks including Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, FanDuel Sportsbook, and DraftKings Sportsbook in Louisiana.

Online Louisiana Sports Betting is Just Around the Corner

There has been plenty of buzz around the launch of online sports betting in Louisiana lately. With Super Bowl LVI going down on Feb. 13, it’s more than likely Louisiana bettors will finally have the online sports betting access they so desperately crave by that date.

Though there have been some rumblings of a full online Louisiana sports betting launch going down next week, Chairman Johns shot down that notion while speaking with Linnehan.

“No truth to that at all. We will roll out multiple licenses hopefully in late January but we are still not completed with compliance issues,” said Johns.

Once all compliance issues have been fully resolved, it will open the door for online sports betting in Louisiana. While there’s potential for the launch to drift into February, Johns appears to be optimistic about a late January launch date.
