Saturday’s Week 12 college football slate is full of incredible matchups, including a potential Pac-12 Championship Game preview. #23 Utah (7-3, 6-1 Pac-12) hosts #3 Oregon (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12) in a contest featuring two programs riding lengthy winning streaks.
The Ducks enter play winners of five straight, while the Utes have won three in a row. Despite Oregon’s higher ranking and better record, it’s Utah who’s been established as the favorite.

The Utes opened up as a 3-point favorite, in a game that features a total of 59. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm ET at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. ABC will provide the coverage nation wide, while the forecast currently calls for a few showers, and 32 degree night time temperatures.
Ducks’ Ground Game Delivers
Both of these programs sit atop their respective divisions in the Pac-12, while each of Oregon’s victories during its five-game winning streak have come against conference foes. Last week, they got past Washington State 38-24 at home, led by the arm and legs of quarterback Anthony Brown.
The dual-threat pivot threw for 135 yards and a score versus the Cougars, but he did his best work on the ground. Brown rushed for a season-high 123 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, marking the third time in four games he’s eclipsed 62 rushing yards.

As a team, the Ducks rushed the ball 47 times for 306 yards and four touchdowns, staying true to their offensive identity. Oregon leads the Pac-12 in rushing yards per game (227.4) and ranks second behind Utah in points per game.
Defensively, the Ducks ranks fourth in the conference in points against and are led by projected number one overall pick Kayvon Thibodeaux. The 6-5, 256 pounder had six tackles and two sacks versus Washington State, giving him a team-high six sacks on the season.

Oregon’s defense hasn’t been nearly as sharp on the road however, as they’ve allowed at least 28 points in three of four road tilts.
Utah Survives Arizona
Utah’s latest victory meanwhile, was a 38-29 decision over Arizona in a game that was closer than the final score might indicate. This was a two-point game with 10 and a half minutes left to play, before the Utes orchestrated a 15-play, 8-plus minute touchdown drive to seal the victory.

QB Cameron Rising threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran another score in. Utah was without its top running back Tavion Thomas, and the rushing attack suffered. The Utes ran for 40 yards fewer than their season average, which put more of the offensive burden on Rising.
Thomas, who leads the Pac-12 in rushing touchdowns, is hopeful to play against the Ducks but no there’s no word on his official status at this point.
Thanks to Rising, Utah was able to extend its streak of scoring at least 34 points to six games, and have scored at least 44 points in two of its last three.

Defensively, they’ve coughed up 29 points or more in two of their past four outings, and three times overall this season. They rank fifth in the Pac-12 in scoring defense, and third in yards allowed.
Oregon vs Utah Pick
The Ducks lead the all-time series versus the Utes 23-10, and were victorious in their last meeting which was the 2019 Pac-12 Championship Game. Oregon has won three of the past four matchups in this rivalry, while four of the past seven meetings have produced at least 61 points.
Utah has been an over machine this season, clearing the total in eight of their 10 contests, including six of seven conference games. The over has hit in each of the Utes’ last six outings, and in three of the Ducks’ past four contests as well.
With both offenses firing on all cylinders over 59 is the play. Oregon and Utah are tied for 13th in the nation in points per drive, while both rank 52nd in points per drive allowed.
