Amid the chaos at this year’s Hungarian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton once again fell short of victory, with his second-place performance marking the sixth time in his seven outings that he has failed to seize the checkered flag. However, the 36-year-old Englishman has enjoyed success at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, reaching the podium on nine previous occasions and winning four times.

Indeed, Mercedes enjoy a long track record of success at this event, earning the win in four of the past six years. The German automaker is also pegged as a solid -105 bet to be the winning constructor this time around but must hold off serious challenges from both Red Bull and Ferrari.

Verstappen Looking for Revenge

After seeing a career-best three-race win streak halted by collisions in each of his past two outings, Max Verstappen looks to reclaim the top of the standings with his first-ever win in the land of his birth. After being knocked out of the British Grand Prix by an opening-lap collision with Hamilton, Verstappen was once again hamstrung by sloppy driving by a Mercedes driver in Hungary. Valtteri Bottas was unable to stop on a slick surface in the opening seconds of the Hungarian Grand Prix and ending up colliding with both Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

The incidents have fueled the growing rivalry between the rising star Verstappen and the faltering Mercedes duo of Hamilton and Bottas. And if Verstappen can avoid any further incidents this weekend, he will be tough to beat. The 23-year-old has reached the podium in 22 of the past 23 races in which he was not forced to retire or involved in a collision. That includes a third-place finish in Belgium last year.

Ferrari, McLaren Duel Heats Up

This weekend also marks the rekindling of the season-long duel between Ferrari and McLaren. Among the six drivers who were forced out of last month’s race in Hungary. Leclerc will be aiming to recapture the form that powered him to victory in Belgium two years ago. The 23-year-old Monte Carlo native turned in his strongest performance of the season with his second-place finish at the British Grand Prix and will be counting on the support of Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz Jr.

The 26-year-old Spaniard emerged from the wreckage in Hungary to finish third, and sports strong -150 odds to finish among the top six this weekend. However, victory has eluded him in Belgium, where he has failed to earn a point in six previous appearances.

Lando Norris will also be eager to rebound from the debacle in Hungary, where he failed to finish after the opening-lap pile-up. Up until that point, Norris was the only F1 driver to earn at least a point in every race so far this season, with eight of his nine finishes coming among the top five. That consistency makes Norris worthy of a value wager as a +300 bet to reach the podium for the fourth time this season.
