Having been completely wiped out from the sports calendar last year due to COVID-19, the world’s best will convene and there are plenty of women’s rowing events taking place. Hanna Prakatsen Favored in First Year

Hanna Prakatsen’s stock has shot up this season, as she’s gone unbeaten, winning the European Olympic Qualifying Regatta and the European Championships. Though she’s been dominant, it’s very rare for a competitor to enter the single sculls field and win it all right away.

American Kara Kohler has the fourth shortest odds of the contenders at +700 which could merit some serious consideration. With Ireland’s Sanita Puspure neck-and-neck with Prakatsen, taking her with a little more value, considering she’s been dominant the last few years, seems like the more prudent play.

Clear Two Horse Race in Double Sculls

Oddsmakers seem quite certain that the gold medal winner will either be the Romanian duo of Nicoleta-Ancuta Bodnar & Simona Radis or the Kiwis Brooke Donoghue and Hannah Osborne. Both are priced as +125 co-favorites.

The Americans Genevra Stone & Kristina Wagner are certainly worth a lot as +1400 underdogs to jet past the two favorites, but it’s hard to see them pulling it off considering they’re significantly unlikely to win.

The Romanian pair are younger (22 years), compared to the wily veterans from New Zealand who are 26 and 27 respectively. A duo that isn’t as experienced as the Kiwis might be tougher to back.

New Zealand has dominated this event, as they were World Champions in 2017 and 2019. They also won every World Cup they entered throughout the 2017-2019 seasons.

China Heavy Favorites to Win Quads

It will have to take something very surprising for China to lose this heat, as they’re huge -360 favorites to win over defending champion Germany.

The Chinese are the reigning World Champions and went unbeaten throughout 2019. This event is a huge one for Germany, who have always fared very well in this competition. The United States are an afterthought with super long odds of +8000.

Even though it’s hardly the sexy pick and there isn’t any value wagering on them, China is the clear favorite for a reason.

Olympic Women’s Coxless Pair Odds

Four Clear Countries Battling

Attempting to pick a winner for the Women’s Coxless pair is difficult with so many competitors, but it comes down to a core four squads that would appear to have a realistic shot – New Zealand, Canada, Australia, and Great Britain.

The American contingent of Megan Kalmoe and Tracy Eisser are +2000 to win the gold, and while the veteran pair could find their way to the podium, a win is unlikely.

Olympic Women’s Coxless Four Odds

Australia a Formidable Foe to the Dutch

The coxless four event is returning, having not been contested since Canada won in Barcelona in 1992. The Aussies enter this race as the clear -120 favorites for gold, with the Netherlands right behind them at +340. The United States are third at +600.

The Aussies are the reigning World Champions and also won gold in 2017 and silver in 2018.

This year, the Dutch won their 3rd straight European Championships. They might have the upper edge with their experience over Australia but perhaps won’t be able to close the gap on their foes.

United States Are Strong Competitors

The reigning champions for the coxed eight is none other than the United States, and they are the slight underdog to overtake the favored Kiwis.

USA has won the last three games and nine of the last eleven World Championships. New Zealand is the reigning World Champions but the United States offer slightly more value and have proved their dominance in this event.
