The Professional Fighters League is back on Friday, June 25 for their sixth event of 2021. The promotion has women’s lightweights and heavyweights compete, but Anthony Pettis and Lance Palmer have their second fight on this card due to it being delayed. In the main event, PFL star Kayla Harrison takes on MMA veteran Cindy Dandois.

For those that might not know, PFL is a regular-season and playoff format like stick and ball sports. A decision win nets you three points, a first-round finish gets you six, a second-round finish gets you five, and a third-round finish nets you four. The winner of the tournament also gets $1 million at the end of the year.

Does Dandois Have Any Shot?

Kayla Harrison has been the face of PFL since the two-time Olympic gold medalist made the switch to MMA and, she has been dominant in her career. She’s 9-0 as a pro and faces combat sports veteran, Cindy Dandois who has been fighting since 2009 and has fought the who’s who of women’s MMA.

The one thing Dandois has going for her in this fight is the fact she does have a good ground game. Harrison is used to fighting strikers where she just uses her judo takedowns to get them down and quickly submit them. Yet, Dandois has a ton of experience, and she actually handed Megan Anderson, the former UFC title challenger, her first career loss by sub back in 2015.

Although Dandois has the experience, it will take a miracle for her to get her hand raised on Friday night as the odds suggest. Harrison will have the size advantage, and although Dandois is good on the ground can likely take her down as she does to most of her opponents.

In the fight, I expect Harrison to try and test out her standup game early on as Dandois is far from a striker and gets hit a lot. It would make sense for the Olympian to get some cage time in on the feet as that is a key way to improve.

Ultimately, I don’t expect this fight to last long as Harrison should be able to take Dandois down and just ground and pound her out to get a TKO win. I don’t see her being able to submit Dandois and the odds are way too high but possibly look for a Harrison wins in Round 1 and Harrison by TKO props.

Does Pettis Advance to the Playoffs?

Anthony Pettis was one of the marquee free agents for PFL and is now in a do-or-die spot as he must beat Raush Manfio in order to make the playoffs.

On paper, Pettis is the better fighter but over his past four to six fights he has not looked like himself as he is starting to slow down. He still has KO power, but he used to win fights on his speed which is no longer the case. He also doesn’t throw enough volume for my liking, and Manfio could take this fight to the mat and see if he has success grappling.

Ultimately, I expect Pettis to be able to piece up Manfio on the feet and win a decision to advance to the playoffs. Pettis will have a sense of urgency here and will throw more volume than usual.

Pick: Anthony Pettis (-200)

Other PFL 6 Picks:

1. Lance Palmer (+108): Palmer is the back-to-back champ and needs an early finish. I expect him to use his grappling to wear out Khaybulaev and win a decision but not advance to the playoffs.
2. Denis Goltsov (-230): Goltsov is the real deal, and he should be able to piece up Sayles on the feet and likely get a TKO win.
