Second spot in Group C comes down to Monday’s clash between Ukraine and Austria, who are both stuck on three points apiece. The Netherlands essentially has first place locked up, while North Macedonia is winless so far in Euro 2020.
The Ukrainians barely slipped past the Macedonians on matchday two in a 2-1 victory. Austria on other hand, fell victim to the Dutch in a 2-0 defeat in Amsterdam on Thursday.

Ukraine Attack Thriving
While Andriy Shevchenko’s side may have just one win to show for, they have been very impressive in the final third. Strike duo Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko have been in fine form in the tournament, having both scored two goals each and also combining for a pair of assists. They’ve shown tremendous comradery up top and are the sole reason Ukraine is even in a position to potentially advance to the last 16.

Although they netted two early goals against North Macedonia courtesy of their two forwards, the Ukrainians weren’t as dominant as expected, though. The debutants gave them a serious run for their money, with Ezgjan Alioski cutting the lead in half for the visitors midway through the second period. Possession was basically split in half and the Macedonians had lots of chances to equalize.
Nevertheless, Ukraine head into Monday in good spirits. Losing a goal-filled 3-2 thriller to Holland on matchday one was certainly a boost to their confidence, especially considering they came back from a 2-0 deficit before PSV Eindhoven standout Denzel Dumfries bagged a winner for Frank de Boer’s men on home soil.

A draw against Austria would be enough to see the Ukrainians through to the knockout stages because of their slim edge in goal difference. However, another victory will definitely be the focus and in order to do so, Yaremchuk and Yarmolenko will need to be clinical once again.
Austria Looking to Make History
The Austrians have never been a footballing powerhouse. This is only their third European Championships in the last 60 years and they’ve never actually progressed to the knockout rounds. In fact, Austria’s victory over North Macedonia was their first ever in this prestigious competition.
While it was a very convincing performance against the Balkan country, Franco Foda’s squad faced a daunting task in the Netherlands just a few days ago. The quality of the No. 16 ranked outfit in the world proved to be too much as the Austrians left empty-handed. After scoring three goals in their first match, they had a tough time breaking through a very solid Dutch backline, registering just one shot on target.

Marko Arnautovic, who was suspended for this clash due to a racial slur he made towards Alioski in their tournament opener, was a player who Austria definitely missed here. His presence in the final third is always felt, having scored one of the side’s three goals vs. North Macedonia.
It would be no surprise to see the former West Ham frontman feature in the starting XI on Monday. Stuttgart star Sasa Kalajdzic, who was absolutely lethal in the Bundesliga this term, has yet to score in the competition and will be looked upon to make an impact in this crucial fixture.
🇦🇹 Currently with Austria at #Euro2020, Sasa Kalajdzic has emerged as a new target for #ACMilan according to several reports.

While Ukraine could get away with a draw, the hosts desperately need a victory. A point may see them still get through as one of the third-place teams, but it would be dicey. After a poor showing in the Dutch capital though, Foda will be gunning for a lot more than just a tie in order to play it safe.

Ukraine vs Austria Prediction
The hosts have looked slightly more consistent in Euro 2020 and with their attack absolutely firing on all cylinders right now, I like Ukraine to come out victorious here. Both sides aren’t the strongest at the back, however, which means the over in goals also offers value.
Pick: Ukraine (+270), Over 2.5 Goals (+210)
