Five NBA games are on the schedule for Tuesday night. The Nets and Pelicans headline the early tip-offs, while the Hornets and Knicks face a pivotal game in the battle for Eastern Conference playoff positioning. Still chasing a top four seed, the Atlanta Hawks face the rebuilding Magic.

Portland and the Clippers matchup a couple of hours later with Ty Lue’s team heavily favored. Despite plenty of talent taking the court, there’s little to play for between the Timberwolves and the Kings to wrap up the night’s action. Only three teams have a worse net rating than Sacramento and Minnesota over the last 10.

Despite a quieter night in the Association, there are plenty of player props to get stuck into.

Randle Keeps Rolling

Only 13 players are averaging more points per game than Julius Randle in April. Of those players, Randle has the joint-highest assists per game, and his rebounding tally is only bettered by Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns. Randle is playing like a true superstar, and he has helped the Knicks put together six wins on the bounce.

Randle has put up 32 or more in each of his last four games, including a mammoth 44-point outing against the Mavericks. Tom Thibodeau built the Knicks’ offense through Randle, and he has flourished all year long. He has developed into a solid outside shooter, but he’s still at his most impactful when he can go to a bit of bully ball. There should be ample opportunity to take advantage of his size against this Hornets team.

Charlotte use a lot of small lineups. Randle is going to be a mismatch at the four with Miles Bridges or Jalen McDaniels. P.J. Washington could get overpowered, and he’ll likely play most of his minutes at the five.

He’s playing big minutes. As a result, the former Laker is getting up 21.5 field goal attempts per game in April, good for sixth in the league. Against a Hornets team ill-equipped to guard him, Randle should take over again on Tuesday.

KAT Dominates

Sacramento is still without Richaun Holmes. That’s a problem when they face one of the league’s best centers on Tuesday night. Karl-Anthony Towns will be licking his lips at a matchup with Hassan Whiteside, Damian Jones or Chimezie Metu.

The Kings ended a losing streak with a win over Dallas. That was a morale boost as much as anything, as Luke Walton’s team have fallen out of the play-in race. Their defense has been among the worst in the league since the All-Star break, and they face a Minnesota team which has looked much better offensively since Chris Finch took over. The eye test is reflected in the numbers – the T-Wolves are 13th in offensive rating in the second half of the season.

This has partly been through leaning into Towns as a playmaker. He’s averaging 4.6 dimes per contest, and has registered five or more in each of his last seven games. The All-Star center is getting plenty of shots up too, averaging 18.6 field goal attempts per game in April, more than Kawhi Leonard, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokic.

Despite Minnesota’s woeful record, this should be a competitive game. If Towns plays 30-plus minutes, recording 33 more points and assists is to be expected.
