Let’s take a look at the odds for Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian Whyte 2.
Alexander Povetkin vs Dillian Whyte Odds
Fighter | Odds at FanDuel |
---|---|
Dillian Whyte | -400 |
Alexander Povetkin | +280 |
Odds as of Mar. 24
These two initially threw down in August last year, the immediate rematch got rescheduled a couple of times, and now we are finally days out from the sequel.
The Backstory of Povetkin vs Whyte
The interim WBC title distinction is one that Whyte long held onto. Over a thousand days with that mandatory contender position actually. But Povetkin emphatically snatched that spot from him last summer.
Alexander Povetkin launched Dillian Whyte into the stratosphere with a fight-ending uppercut that left Whyte staring at the lights.

Dillian Whyte had early successes in the bout where he dropped Povetkin twice to the canvas during the fourth frame only to be finished by Povetkin in the next round.
Povetkin vs Whyte Similar Line for Sequel
Despite the devastating nature of the stoppage in the first fight, the line largely remains the same for the rematch. Whyte was situated at-350 heading into the first bout while Povetkin was +265 (Whyte now -400 opposite Povetin’s +280).
The highlight reel defeat snapped an eleven-fight winning streak that Dillian Whyte had compiled.
Running it back for the immediate rematch has created a framework for Whyte that has him referring to this contest as the most key of his professional boxing run so far.
"MY MOST IMPORTANT FIGHT"😬@DillianWhyte says he's rediscovered what made him so dangerous at the start of his career… but it's all on the line this Saturday #PovetkinWhyte2 pic.twitter.com/WorbtcirAC

The victor in this prizefight positions themselves favorably to fight the winner of the Fury vs Joshua series set for this year.
Povetkin is a former Olympic gold medalist, has proven KO power over the entirety of his combat career, and has been in multiple world championship fights.
Still though, with Povetkin being in the early part of his forties compared to Whyte being in his early 30’s, I’m a bit bullish on lightning striking twice for Alexander Povetkin.
I can see Whyte putting Povetkin in similarly difficult spots to the first fight, but I think the initial outcome will give Whyte a level of composure.
He’ll be able to hurt Povetkin and drop him. But not encroach too closely and put himself in a vulnerable position like last time.
Povetkin vs Whyte 2 Tale of the Tape

This heavyweight collision is scheduled for twelve rounds. That being said, I do not see the judges’ scorecards playing a role in the outcome for this bout.
In regards to the rematch, Whyte stated “this time when I hit him he’ll stay down” and I’m inclined to agree.
I think there’s good value in pursuing prop bets on this contest not going the distance, Dillian Whyte via KO or TKO (-155), and Whyte winning between Rounds 4-6 (+390).
Pick: Dillian Whyte (-400)
