Traditionally held in late January or early February, COVID-19 pushed the Grammys back to March 14th. This Sunday, the Recording Academy celebrates musical releases from September 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020. We’ll be taking a look at the top contenders to win Record of the Year in the 63rd Grammy Awards odds.
Grammy opening odds were released as early as December for all major categories including, Record of the Year, an award that honors the performer, the producers, and the musical engineers regardless of sales or chart position. As we edge closer to the Grammys, odds continue to fluctuate in each category.

Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now Leads the Pack
Dua means love in Albanian. The English songwriter and songstress brings back disco in a fury with her hit single “Don’t Start Now”. The single shares a slew of love don’ts for an ex while raking in three different Grammy nominations. Dua took home Best New Artist in 2019. Dua is up for a total of six Grammys. Favored at -200 odds, Dua will win Record of the Year for “Don’t Start Now”. Dua won the heart of Grammy voters last year. She is primed for another round of success as voters give her plenty of Grammy nods this year, while snubbing the likes of The Weeknd.

While “Black Parade” has been regarded as mid-tier quality by critics, the song made headlines. Beyonce released the song on Juneteenth to celebrate the end of slavery and to promote small black-owned businesses. In the wake of Black Lives Matter and the country’s quest to evaluate societal racism, “Black Parade” contributed to the focus on cultural shift.
Record of the Year is about the performer, the producers, and the engineers. This could be the year performance is defined by more than dancing and singing on a stage.
