Will Fredrick Defend His Belt For The First Time?
Nathias Fredrick pulled off the upset last time out to win the middleweight title back in November of 2019 as he knocked out James Webb. Now, he is set to defend his belt for the first time against Cage Warriors veteran Jamie Richardson.
Frederick & Richardson Recent Fights
James Webb, win by TKO (title fight) | Fight 1 | Matthew Bonner, win by decision |
James Webb, draw (title fight) | Fight 2 | Phill Wells, win by TKO |
Marcin Prostko, win by TKO | Fight 3 | Phill Wells, win by TKO |
Avi Jack, win by decision | Fight 4 | Aaron Khalid, loss by submission |
Despite being 37-years-old, Nathias Frederick seems to be entering his prime. Many thought if James Webb won his last fight that he would get signed to the UFC or Bellator, but Frederick’s striking looked impressive.
Richardson, on the other hand, is a pure striker who has struggled on the ground as he has been submitted in three of his five losses. However, Frederick is not someone who takes the fight to the ground all that much. Expect this one to remain standing for the most part.
Frederick vs Richardson Stats
37 | Age | 24 |
6’1″ | Height | 6’0″ |
N/A | Reach | N/A |
1 | Cage Warriors finishes | 4 |
Early on, I do expect Richardson to have success on the feet as Frederick is a slow starter. But, in the second or third round, Frederick will start to be more active on the feet and start landing the harder shots. I also worry about Richardson’s cardio as I don’t know if he will be able to go five hard rounds.

Ultimately, in the third or fourth round, I expect Frederick to land something big and drop Richardson to finish him via TKO. -420 is a bit steep but could be used in a two-leg parlay with Nathan Fletcher on the prelims who I think will be in the UFC in the next two years.
Pick: Nathias Frederick (-420)
Does The Winner Sign With A Major Promotion?
Leonardo Damiani vs Aaron Khalid will be a grappler fan’s delight as both men are phenomenal at jiu-jitsu and are known for their submissions.
Damiani & Khalid Recent Fights
Abdul Sami Wali Fayzi, win by submission | Fight 1 | Mick Stanton, win by submission |
Marco Saccaro, win by decision | Fight 2 | Alex Lohore, loss by submission |
Erlan Ulukbekov, draw | Fight 3 | Hakon Foss, win by submission |
Tomas Lejsek, win by TKO | Fight 4 | Jamie Richardson, win by submission |
Normally, when two grapplers fight, it becomes a kickboxing fight, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the same happens here. On the feet, both men are very similar, but I give the slight edge to Aaron Khalid.
Early on, I expect Damiani to try and get this fight to the ground. On the feet, Khalid will be more active and land the harder shots to edge out a decision.
Pick: Aaron Khalid (+100)
Other Cage Warriors 118 Picks:
- Matt Inman (-160): Inman is fighting for the first time in three years and is getting a layup in his return. Expect to use his grappling to win a decision.
- Madars Fleminas (-210): Fleminas is on a two-fight skid, but I expect him to piece up Stanton on the feet and win by TKO.
- Adam Ventre (-185): Ventre should be able to keep it standing and use his volume to win a decision.
