I have been tracking all the NFL Draft odds and props available across all sportsbooks from the moment they opened. Among others, we will have odds to be taken with the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, odds to be a top 5/10 pick, draft position over/unders, first player taken at each position, and many more as the year goes on. As we draw closer to draft night, I have seen many more NFL Draft betting markets begin to open.
The 2025 NFL Draft is currently set for Thursday, April 24 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The NFL Draft odds in the graphs below are an average from multiple sportsbooks and will be updated with every major change.
NFL Draft Odds for First Overall Pick
Miami QB Cam Ward is currently the favorite to be taken first-overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward took over as the favorite after the NFL season wrapped up, locking the Titans into the top pick. It marked the first time Ward had been seen as the favorite, following Shedeur Sanders and Carson Beck, who has opted to stay in college, each spending some time as the favorite between opening and the conclusion of the college football regular season. At this point, it seems Ward to the Titans with the #1 pick is a foregone conclusion based on his -10000 odds.

Sanders’ freefall from the top of the board happened pretty quickly. He only has the fourth-best odds to go #1 right now, and is a very distant +6600.

The odds to be the 1st-overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft favor Cam Ward at -10000 odds. Those odds give Ward an 99% chance to go first-overall and a $20 bet on him would stand to profit $0.20 and return $20.20.
While we did see other QBs among the favorites during the college season, like Shedeur Sanders, Quinn Ewers, and even Carson Beck, it has been a year of non-QBs getting attention with the early picks.

After Ward in the odds to be the first pick are: Abdul Carter (+3000), Travis Hunter (+5000), Shedeur Sanders (+6600), and Jaxson Dart (+30000).
One of the biggest mysteries right now is what NFL scouts will think of Travis Hunter, who says he wants to continue to play both sides of the ball in the pros. He has the third-best odds to be taken first-overall.

Here are some notes on the odds movement we’ve seen:
- [April 10] Cam Ward has effectively run away with this race, as his odds to be the first-overall pick reached -10000 across most sportsbooks.
- [March 13] The month of February saw Cam Ward establish himself as the odds-on favorite to be the first pick, seeing his odds move to shorter than +100. The first half of March saw Ward start pulling away from the field, as his odds improved to as short as -1000.
- [January 28] While the initial reaction to Titans executives claiming they wouldn’t pass on generational talent led to Travis Hunter’s odds to be the first-overall pick dramatically improving, Abdul Carter’s odds have gone from +975 down to as short as +180, the second-best odds on the board, over the past few days.
- [January 23] According to BetMGM Trading Manager, Christian Cipollini, there has been “significant betting on [Travis] Hunter since the comments made by Titans executives,” when they said they would not pass on a generational talent with the first pick. They did not specifically say Hunter was a generational talent, but bettors are obviously believing that’s who they were talking about. The result was Hunter’s odds to be the first pick going from +1100 to +158. Though, Cam Ward remained the favorite after those comments, but his odds worsened from -210 to +110.
- [January 7] In spite of some criticism he faced for sitting out the second half of the Pop-Tarts Bowl, Cam Ward overtook Shedeur Sanders as the favorite to be taken first-overall in the 2025 NFL Draft after the NFL season wrapped up.
- [October 24] Shedeur Sanders has continued to play well for Colorado, while Carson Beck has thrown a flurry of interceptions recently. The result was Sanders taking back over as the favorite to be picked first in the NFL Draft.
- [October 21] As Travis Hunter gains steam in the Heisman race, so have his odds to be selected first overall in the NFL Draft. Hunter was given 30-1 odds to be the first player selected back in August, but has shortened to +725 as the college season winds down. These were the second-best odds on the board at the time.
- [May 6] Less than two weeks after odds opened, we saw Carson Beck take over as the favorite to be the first pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Beck’s odds actually didn’t improve, though, remaining at +300. The change atop the board was the result of Shadeur Sanders’ odds fading from +100 to +450.
- [April 26] Shedeur Sanders opened as the favorite to be the first-overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Colorado QB opened with very short +100 odds. Both Quinn Ewers and Carson Beck opened with +300 odds, tied for second-best at this time.
Previous NFL First Overall Picks
Year | 1st Overall Pick |
---|---|
2024 | Caleb Williams (QB) |
2023 | Bryce Young (QB) |
2022 | Travon Walker (DE) |
2021 | Trevor Lawrence (QB) |
2020 | Joe Burrow (QB) |
Here are a few trends to note with the first overall pick:
- USC has the most first-overall picks coming from their school with six. Notre Dame, Georgia, and Oklahoma are tied for the second-most with five each
- Here’s the positional breakdown of the 91 total first overall picks: 36 have been quarterbacks, 23 running backs, 16 defensive linemen, six offensive linemen, three wide receivers, two tight ends, four linebackers, and one defensive back
- The first overall pick has been a quarterback in six of the last seven drafts, and eight of the last ten
- No running back has been selected first overall since Ki-Jana Carter in 1995
- Three of the last seven first overall picks won the Heisman Trophy in their final college season – Caleb Williams, Bryce Young, Trevor Lawrence, and Travon Walker, the four most recent first overall picks, did not
NFL Draft Position Over/Unders
Draft position over/unders opened in late-March, but the original market only had a handful of players. We now have 16 players with over/unders on when they will be selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, and will likely see at least another 20 players given odds in this market before we get to draft night.
If you want some insight on which over/unders I believe are showing some value, check out my NFL Mock Draft, where I do my best to piece together the sportsbooks’ puzzle pieces (NFL Draft markets) and then highlight which ones are tough to fit in (present betting value).
Odds to Be a Top 5 Pick in NFL Draft
Sportsbooks opened odds to be the #2 pick in the NFL Draft in late-March. Abdul Carter opened as the odds-on favorite to be taken second by the Cleveland Browns, getting -130 odds. However, that changed drastically after the Browns sent extra personnel to Travis Hunter’s Pro Day workout. Hunter is now the odds-on favorite to be the 2nd pick, getting -300 odds.
Odds to be the third pick also opened in late-March, and favor Abdul Carter with -250 odds. However, Shedeur Sanders was the favorite when these odds opened, and Travis Hunter also spent time as the favorite prior to Carter. The Giants hold the third pick and were originally believed to be looking at QBs with this pick. However, New York has signed Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson in free agency, potentially signaling a lack of interest in the QB prospects available. The Wilson signing seemed to have flipped these odds.
Odds to be the fourth and fifth picks of the 2025 NFL Draft have also opened, with Will Campbell now favored to go 4th to the Patriots, and Mason Graham the odds-on favorite to be selected 5th by the Jaguars.
First Player Drafted at Each Position
Below you will find the odds on which player will be drafted first at each playing position. Many of these NFL Draft props have clear favorites, but the draft is one of the most unpredictable events in football. So, I look at these props as an opportunity to find some value.
First Quarterback Drafted
Cameron Ward is the extremely heavy favorite to be the first QB selected, which makes sense since he is also the favorite to be the 1st overall pick. The only bit of drama we have seen with this market lately was Jaxson Dart being tied with Shedeur Sanders for the second-best odds for a brief period. That has changed now, though, as Sanders has far better odds than Dart now.
First Running Back Drafted
Ashton Jeanty is the runaway favorite to be the first RB selected in this year’s NFL Draft. Jeanty is as short as -5000 at DraftKings. Omarion Hampton has the second-best odds at 18-1.
First Wide Receiver Drafted
While Matthew Golden created some serious buzz for himself at the NFL Combine, it is still Tetairoa McMillan who is the heavy favorite to be the first wide receiver selected in the draft. Golden is given short +150 odds, but he’s well back of McMillan’s -230 odds.
First Tight End Drafted
Tyler Warren is heavily favored to be the first TE drafted. Colston Loveland is the only other player getting shorter than 18-1 odds.
First Offensive Lineman Drafted
There has been a fair amount of volatility in the odds to be the first offensive lineman drafted, as Will Campbell opened as the favorite, but after his arm measurement came back quite short, Armand Membou became the favorite. Campbell has again taken over as the favorite, but we could see this NFL Draft prop flip-flop between now and the draft.
First Defensive Lineman or EDGE Drafted
Abdul Carter is given very short -2500 odds to be the first defensive lineman selected in April’s draft. Mason Graham is the only other player given odds shorter than +1500.
First Linebacker Drafted
To be clear, this prop is referring to off-ball linebackers (ILBs). Jalon Walker is the heavy favorite to be the first linebacker selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. While Walker may play a hybrid role in the pros, he is entering the league as an inside linebacker.
First Corner Drafted
Travis Hunter is an extremely-heavy favorite to be the first corner drafted. There is more intrigue in looking at the odds to be the second corner drafted, where Will Johnson is a slight -185 favorite over Jahdae Barron (+145).
First Safety Drafted
Nick Emmanwori is the odds-on favorite to be the first safety selected in the draft. However, Malaki Starks is closing the gap between he and Emmanwori. Starks’ odds to be the first safety drafted were +150 in March, but are now as short as +105.

The 2025 NFL Draft order is fully locked in following the Super Bowl. This is the first year I can remember where every team holds their first-round pick. Most years there has been at least one team who traded their first-round pick. There is still time for that to happen, of course, but it’s a little odd that we haven’t seen it yet.
Odds to Have 1st Overall Pick in 2025 NFL Draft
|
|
|
|
|
|
---|
To start the 2024 NFL season, the New England Patriots had the lowest NFL win total and the best odds to finish the season with the fewest regular season wins. This would suggest they were the favorite to get the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, Carolina’s struggles early in the season have moved them to the favorites to get the first-overall pick / finish with the worst regular season record.
Odds to have the worst record in the 2024-25 NFL season are updated every 20-30 minutes from FanDuel and other top sportsbooks.
Teams to Select First in Past Drafts
Year | Team with 1st Pick |
---|---|
2024 | Chicago Bears* |
2023 | Carolina Panthers* |
2022 | Jacksonville Jaguars |
2021 | Jacksonville Jaguars |
2020 | Cincinnati Bengals |
Here are a few trends when it comes to the teams selecting first overall:
- The Colts (both as Baltimore and Indianapolis) and Rams (as Cleveland, St Louis, and Los Angeles) are tied for the most times picking first overall with seven each
- Three teams have never selected first overall: the Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and Baltimore Ravens
- The first overall pick has been traded six times, most recently in 2023 when the Panthers traded up for Bryce Young. They actually gave up the 2024 first overall pick in this trade as well.
- A team from the AFC North has had the first overall pick in three of the last eight seasons
- The Cleveland Browns (2017-18), Cincinnati Bengals (1994-95), Philadelphia Eagles (1936-37), and Jacksonville Jaguars (2021-22) are the only four teams to ever select first overall in back-to-back drafts
NFL Draft Order – How the Process Works
Unlike the NBA and NHL, there is no draft lottery in the NFL. The first 18 picks go to the 18 teams that didn’t qualify for the playoffs. The team with the worst record gets the #1-overall pick; the team with the second-worst record gets the #2-overall pick, and so on.
If teams have the same win/loss record, the tie is broken by strength of schedule. The team that played the weaker strength of schedule is awarded the better draft pick. In 2015, for example, the Titans and Browns tied for worst record in the NFL at 3-13. The Titans got the #1 pick (which they traded to the Rams) because they played a weaker schedule than the Browns.
The final 14 picks go to the 14 teams that did qualify for the postseason. Picks #19 through #25 go to the six teams that were eliminated in the Wild Card round. The #19th pick goes to the team with the worst regular-season record among those six teams, and so on.
Repeat this process for teams eliminated in the Divisional Round and Conference Championships. The #32 pick goes to the team that won the Super Bowl.
