The build to the fourth installment of WWE NXT TakeOver: WarGames, coming up this Sunday, December 6th, 2020, has undoubtedly felt rushed. That said, the four-match card has potential on paper and is sure to be on par with past WarGames events.
It will be headlined by not one but two WarGames matches featuring both the men and women of the black-and-gold brand. Tommaso Ciampa vs Timothy Thatcher was also added to the lineup late Wednesday night, but betting odds are not currently available for it.
Here are the last-minute betting odds that matter most with TakeOver: WarGames fast approaching.

NXT North American Championship Pick
Leon Ruff shocked the world when he beat Johnny Gargano for the NXT North American Championship on a recent episode of WWE NXT, but now he has the tall task of having to hold onto it. Although he’ll have to face two top talents in Gargano and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat at TakeOver, betting odds actually have him winning at -210 currently.
Tonight, they win as teammates. This Sunday at #NXTTakeOver: WarGames, @LEONRUFF_ & @ArcherOfInfamy fight as competitors over the #NXTNATitle! #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/zFNm6TsgD0

It’s safe to say that Ruff won’t be long for the role of champion, but there shouldn’t be any rush in getting the belt off of him. Gargano and Priest should cancel each other out in this match, thus allowing Ruff to retain by the skin of his teeth,
Lumis vs Grimes
Dexter Lumis and Cameron Grimes have been at odds for months. Despite Lumis besting his rival in a Haunted House of Terror match at Halloween Havoc, Grimes demanded one more match against him.
.@CGrimesWWE's worst fears will come to life, again, when he faces @DexterLumis in a #StrapMatch at #NXTTakeOver: WarGames! https://t.co/VdXnWYB6jg pic.twitter.com/FumtJerDJF

Grimes could use a high-profile victory on a TakeOver special, but this matchup is Lumis’ to win. Not to mention, he beat Roderick Strong in the same type of bout earlier this year on NXT. The betting odds reflect that notion as well, so expect another Lumis win on Sunday.
Team Shotzi vs Team Candice (WarGames Match)
Shotzi Blackheart made an enemy out of Candice LeRae when she prevented her from capturing the NXT Women’s Championship from Io Shirai back at Halloween Havoc. LeRae retaliated by destroying Blackheart’s beloved toy tank, and now a WarGames match featuring their two teams will see them settle their score once and for all.
Team Shotzi has finally rounded out their team, and it's with none other than the #WWENXT #WomensChampion @shirai_io! 😈 #NXTTakeOver: WarGames takes place THIS SUNDAY at 7ET /4PT on @WWENetwork! https://t.co/ojFTgtL7kK pic.twitter.com/zqE7aMhSO5

Blackheart’s band of misfits will consist of herself, Ember Moon, Rhea Ripley, and Io Shirai, while LeRae will be backed by Dakota Kai, Raquel Gonzalez, and Toni Storm. Both squads are stacked with star power, but Team Shotzi has the advantage as well as the slight edge in the odds at -200.
Blackheart getting her revenge over LeRae with a win at WarGames makes the most sense here.
Undisputed Era vs McAfee, Dunne, Lorcan, and Burch
Undisputed Era have been the kings of WarGames since it was resurrected in NXT three years ago. However, at this year’s installment, they’ll face their toughest opposition inside the cages to date when they battle the newly-formed faction of Pat McAfee, Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, and Danny Burch. Undisputed Era are heavily favored over the heels at the moment, though it’s bound to be a spectacle either way.
This SUNDAY
2 Rings..
2 Cages..
2 Teams..
1 brutal truth…

This is the one match on the card where it’s safe to bet against the odds-on favorites. Granted, Undisputed Era haven’t won at WarGames in three years. It would be nice to see them reign supreme on Sunday, but they’re already established and have done everything there is to do on the brand.
Meanwhile, Team McAfee is just getting started and could soon have all the gold in their grasp before long. A victory for them wouldn’t be a stretch and should be considered a legitimate possibility come WarGames.
