With nearly half the competitors from Season 29 of Dancing With the Stars now eliminated, the dances are getting more complicated while the stakes are getting higher. With nine celebrities still in the running for the season’s winner, it’s time to check back in and see where the odds lay.

After all, it’s not exactly ‘anybody’s game’. The odds for this season offer such a variety because certain stars are just so much better on the dance floor than others. We’ve seen a lot of movement of certain celebrities within the odds while others have remained in place where they first opened — for better or for worse.

What’s interesting about this season of Dancing With the Stars is how firm certain celebs’ odds have been while others have moved their mark quite a bit.

Of course, it really depends on the performance quality of the celebrity. Those who dance well and score accordingly have better odds. And, those who seem to have two left feet end up with the worst odds.

Given that ice skater Johnny Weir opened with the best odds and has nailed his choreography throughout the season, he’s remained with the best chance to win the whole season. Other stars have been a little less consistent.

Just a few episodes ago, Selling Sunset star Chrishell Stause was somewhere in the middle of the competitors’ list. But the last few weeks have been particularly rough for Stause. Her average score is now the lowest of any remaining competitor. It makes sense her odds have plummeted.

On the other side, rapper Nelly has really pulled up his socks over the past few weeks. After having one of the worst scores three weeks ago, Nelly is now the most improved on the show. His score on the most recent episode was a 27 out of 30. Not bad at all, Nelly.

Who Will Win?

You can’t deny the fact that Johnny Weir has maintained the best odds since the beginning of the season. But that isn’t everything. Weir’s numbers on the show are good, but not the best.

His average score is actually tied with AJ McLean for third place, behind Nev Schulman, and Kaitlyn Bristowe, respectively. Of the top four, Bristowe is still my pick to take home the prize. She’s the most charismatic star of the bunch, and her performances are the most fun to watch.

Of the remaining competitors, we see long shot opportunities in the likes of Nelly, Stause, Justina Machado, Skai Jackson, and Jeannie Mai. Betting on some of these stars would be throwing your money away. But others actually provide value.

We’ve seen Nelly’s odds ping pong back and forth since the season was announced. He opened at +900, then flopped over to +5000 with poor performances. Now that he’s met his stride, he’s sitting pretty at +1400. If he’s able to keep up this choreography streak, he’d be a great bet currently at +1400.

Additionally, One Day at a Time star Justina Machado also provides great value. While her odds aren’t the best at +2000, her performances are consistent. Bringing with her the third-best performance score average, she does provide an opportunity for a longshot win as well.
