WWE Hell in a Cell has long been criticized by fans for being a pointless pay-per-view, as the Hell in a Cell match at one point felt significantly more special than it does these days due to being used only when necessary. The upcoming installment on Sunday night, October 25th, is another example of a show that shouldn’t be happening seeing as how a mere four matches have been made official so far.

Of course, more are bound to be added after Friday’s SmackDown and during the day of the event, but the hype for Hell in a Cell has been lackluster, lately with a majority of WWE’s focus on the Draft up until this past week. The build for the top matchups on the show have suffered but can still manage to be entertaining given who’s involved.

Ahead of Hell in a Cell, let’s look at who’s currently favored to emerge victorious in each advertised bout according to the current betting odds.

Hardy vs Elias

Following a five-month absence from WWE TV, Elias returned on Raw last week to target Jeff Hardy, who he blames for putting him on the shelf with an injury in the first place.

Given that this feud is just getting started, it’s entirely plausible that either guy could win here. Hardy could use a victory after losing his last several matches, while Elias needs a notable win coming off such a lengthy absence.

The odds currently favor Elias going over at -150, which is probably the best bet to ensure the feud stays alive. However, it isn’t a guarantee; Hardy could win, and Elias could attack afterward in order to achieve the same result.

Expect this to be the first match of many between these two, but if WWE wants to re-establish Elias as a threat on the roster, he has to beat the former WWE world champion in their initial encounter.

Universal Championship Hell in a Cell “I Quit” Match

There can be no doubt that the Roman Reigns vs Jey Uso storyline has been the best thing going in WWE for over a month now. They’ve been a recurring highlight on SmackDown every Friday night and even headlined September’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view, though that isn’t likely to happen again at Hell in a Cell.

Despite that, their Hell in a Cell match with the “I Quit” stipulation is sure to just as exciting as that bout was. Uso has been thriving in chase mode while Reigns arguably has been doing the best work of his WWE career to date as the self-proclaimed “Tribal Chief”.

The matchup should be another storytelling masterpiece, but the outcome isn’t at all in doubt. At -2800, there is virtually zero chance Reigns loses the Universal Championship as soon as Sunday. This is a glorified filler feud for him, albeit an enjoyable one.

Uso pulling out the upset victory and taking home the title isn’t completely out of the question, but Reigns must be champ for the foreseeable future.

WWE Championship Hell in a Cell Match

Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton have been battling over the WWE Championship since the summer and it’s safe to say that their feud has lost a lot of its juice by now.

At this point, fans are ready for the rivalry to be over, and hopefully, this Hell in a Cell match will ensure that.

With this being Orton’s third title opportunity, WWE Booking 101 would dictate he finally becomes champion. Then again, looking at the landscape of Raw at the moment, it would make much more sense for McIntyre to retain so he can go on to feud with the likes of AJ Styles, Sheamus, Bray Wyatt, and Braun Strowman.

The Legend Killer reigning supreme on Sunday would be a waste of McIntyre’s momentum. Hopefully, McIntyre having the slight edge over Orton in the odds at -200 means the company is a sign he’ll emerge from the event with his title intact.

SmackDown Women’s Championship Hell in a Cell Match

A match that has been many years in the making, Bayley vs Sasha Banks for the SmackDown Women’s Championship inside Hell in a Cell must go on last at the event.

Bayley’s betrayal of Banks in early September took their storyline to a totally new level. Even though the feud feels like it’s barely begun to scratch the surface, the odds indicate that Banks could in be line to beat Bayley for the belt in their first meeting on pay-per-view.

The benefit to Bayley retaining the title is that it would prolong their program and keep Banks in chase mode for a little longer. She’s lost two Hell in a Cell matches previously, and this should spell the end of Bayley’s historic reign as SmackDown Women’s champion.
