Flyers vs Canadiens Game 6 Odds and Pick – Aug 21

Game 5 between the Philadelphia Flyers and Montreal Canadiens had a little bit of everything.
From blown leads to taunting to ejections: if you missed this game you missed an instant classic. In the end it was a 5-3 victory for the Canadiens pushing this series to Game 6 on Friday (Aug. 21, game time TBD).

The Canadiens are getting more love from the oddsmakers now than they were in Game 5. Is that justified? Absolutely not. Is that something you should take advantage of? Of course. Here’s the case for the Flyers to finish off the series next time these two hit the ice.
Could Kotkaniemi Be Suspended?
Jesperi Kotkaniemi received a five-minute major, ten-minute misconduct, and game misconduct for boarding. On the ensuing power play, the Flyers scored twice. The hit almost sent Montreal packing. Fortunately for Kotkaniemi, his teammates bailed him out and extended the series.

A major infraction like that will definitely be looked at be the department of players safety. If Kotkaniemi is suspended it will be a big blow for Montreal. Believe it or not, he led the Canadiens in hits this game despite playing only 5:40 prior to his ejection.
This series has been the young Finish forward’s coming out party and, if he is to miss Game 6, it’s a hole Montreal just can’t fill.
Nick Suzuki Taunts Carter Hart
I haven’t seen taunting like this in a long, long time. Canadiens forward Nick Suzuki celebrated a goal in the victory by patting Flyers goalie Carter Hart on the head. Not only was it childish and unnecessary, it provided Philadelphia with something to think about over the next two days.
Remember the last time the Flyers felt slighted? They didn’t like the Canadiens using their top power-play unit late in Game 2. Philadelphia responded with back-to-back shutout wins.

Hart was in goal for both of those wins and that’s important to factor in. He was pulled in Game 2 after a shaky performance and responded with two of the best games of his career. After an unsettling performance in Game 5, where he was almost pulled for backup Brian Elliott, I’d expect him to respond again.

The Flyers have proven a little extra motivation is a good thing for them. Carter Hart has proven he can bounce back in big moments. The Canadiens could be without one of their best forwards and, even if he does play, he’ll be a hunted man all game long. Pick Philadelphia to win Game 6 with ease.
