Hamilton Unstoppable in Hungary
Hamilton’s win at Hungaroring marked his eighth career victory at the event and sets the stage for him to continue his winning ways this weekend. The 35-year-old Englishman has also dominated in his home race, capturing the checkered flag on a record six previous occasions, including five of the past six years.

With Hamilton showing no signs of slowing down, the question entering the fourth race of the Formula 1 season is whether anyone can stop him and his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas, who trails as a +225 second favorite in the British Grand Prix odds.

Buoyed by Mercedes’ clear technological edge over this season’s field, Bottas has reached the podium in each of this year’s three races including a victory at the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix. The 30-year-old Finn has also produced steady results at Silverstone, finishing among the top five in five of his past six appearances at this event, including a trio of second-place runs.
Verstappen Struggling to Keep Pace
The Mercedes’ duo’s early success leaves them well ahead of the rest of the pack in the odds to win the British Grand Prix, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen representing their closest competition at a distant +700. Verstappen has turned in solid results despite struggling to keep pace with Hamilton and Bottas.

The 22-year-old rising star finished second to Hamilton in Hungary and has reached the podium in five of his past six outings. Verstappen has produced mixed results at Silverstone, twice failing to finish and reaching the podium just once in five previous appearances.

Pink Mercedes Continues to Turn Heads
All eyes remain on the Racing Point team of Sergio Perez Jr. and Lance Stroll, who have captured headlines with their solid performances so far in 2020. Perez and Stroll have emerged as threats at every race this season while driving the controversial “Pink Mercedes”, a ride that has sparked protests from rivals Red Bull and Renault.

Following his fourth-place finish in Hungary, Stroll now joins Red Bull’s Alex Albon as a +3300 bet to claim his first career F1 win. Perez lags at +10000, where he is joined by the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel, who are looking to bounce back after colliding with each other in Hungary.

Indeed, the heightened respect that Racing Point is receiving extends to the odds on which team’s car will take the pole position, where the British team sits third as an intriguing +1400 bet. Despite the availability of so many value bets further down the odds, it is tough to look past Hamilton at this weekend’s race.
Pick: Hamilton (-225)
Will Any Driver Complete the Hat Trick (Pole Position, Fastest Lap, Race Winner)
‘Yes” Odds | ‘No’ Odds |
---|---|
+250 | -350 |
Hamilton’s Domination Makes Hat Trick a Solid Value Bet
In addition to taking home the checkered flag in Hungary two weeks ago, the six-time Formula 1 champion also seized the pole position for the second time in as many weeks and turned in the fastest lap. That impressive performance should have his rivals trembling as they travel to Silverstone, where Hamilton has started from the pole in five of his past seven appearances and produced the fastest lap on four occasions during that stretch.

Considering that track record, and barring any unforeseen circumstances impacting the defending champion between now and lights out on Sunday morning, the best betting value can be found in the +250 odds of any driver completing the hat trick, by taking the pole position, producing the fastest lap, and winning this year’s British Grand Prix.
Picks: Any driver to complete the hat trick (+250); Grid position of winner: Pole position (+100)
