Hoffenheim take on high-flying Red Bull Leipzig in Germany’s Bundesliga on Friday after parting ways with their head coach Alfred Schreuder last Tuesday.
A committee of remaining coaches led by Hoffenheim’s Director of Football Alexander Rosen will now oversee the team’s final four matches of the season.
Red Bull Leipzig are unbeaten in five matches – with three drawn – since the resumption of the competition in mid-May and lie in third place.
Despite an unbeaten run of four games, Hoffenheim coach Schreuder departed following disagreements over the future direction of the club.

The oddsmakers have Leipzig as strong -233 favorites for a win on Friday at 2.30 p.m EST behind closed doors at Hoffenheim’s PreZero arena.
They rate seventh-placed Hoffenheim at a wide +540 for a victory – presumably reflecting the upheaval at the club this week.
The draw is +360 which looks to be the best value considering Hoffenheim’s recent form and the fact that Leipzig have drawn seven times in their last 11 Bundesliga games.

UCL Qualifying Hopes
Leipzig are campaigning to secure a Champions League qualifying place after reaching the suspended last eight of this season’s competition. That followed an impressive 4-0 aggregate demolition of Tottenham Hotspur in the Round of 16.
With 59 points, they are four points behind second-placed Borussia Dortmund and four points ahead of fourth-placed Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Leipzig’s most recent result was a surprise 1-1 draw at home against bottom club Paderborn last Saturday – with Red Bull’s defender Dayot Upamecano shown a red card in the first half.
When play resumed in Germany after the COVID-19 pandemic eased, they began again with a 1-1 draw at home against Freiburg and then followed up with a thumping 5-0 win away at Mainz.
Then came a 2-2 draw at home against Hertha Berlin before they again proved to be more ruthless on the road with a 4-2 triumph at FC Koln.
In total, Leipzig are now undefeated in 11 Bundesliga games although that run includes seven draws.

They have lost just once in 21 games, but they have recently failed to match the impressive form of last Fall, when they took 25 points from a possible 27 on a run of eight wins and a draw between November 2nd and January 18th.

Hoffenheim had failed to win in five games before the shutdown – losing three and drawing twice.
They then suffered a 3-0 home defeat by Hertha Berlin in their first match after play resumed. Things picked up with a 1-1 draw at Paderborn being followed by a 3-1 home win against FC Koln and a 1-0 victory away at Mainz.
However, all those results were against teams in the lower half of the table.
Their most recent result was a 2-2 draw away against Fortuna Dusseldorf last Saturday when Hoffenheim had Benjamin Hubner sent off after only nine minutes.
Europa League Chase
Hoffenheim were beaten 3-1 away at Leipzig earlier in the season and have lost three of the teams’ last four meetings while drawing once.
Leipzig’s much-coveted striker Timo Werner scored twice on that occasion and now has 25 goals in 29 Bundesliga appearances this season – with a move to Chelsea taking shape as his reward.
Another reason they are strong favorites is the fact that they have the second-best away record in the competition behind runaway leaders Bayern Munich – with nine wins, four draws and only two defeats on the road.

By contrast, Hoffenheim have only the 12th best home record.
They have won six, drawn one and lost a worrying eight times on their own patch while scoring 22 goals and conceding a dismal 35 times.
