Despite it is expected a very close game this Sunday and there is no clear favorite, in the betting seems that there is already a winner in Super Bowl XLVIII.
Broncos’ quarterback Peyton Manning (10/11) tops the list of many book sites to get the Most Valuable Player award of this edition. It would be the second time in his career to win this recognition. The first time was in 2007, during Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears.
Manning could become the sixth player in history to win it twice, joining Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, Bart Starr, Eli Manning and Tom Brady.
In the last six Super Bowls, the MVP award went to five quarterbacks. Receiver Santonio Holmes won it in 2009, when he made a great catch in the corner of the end zone to give the Pittsburgh Steelers a win in the final seconds against the Arizona Cardinals in the XLIII edition.
Second in the betting lists is Seattle’s quarterback Russell Wilson (2/1), followed by his teammate Marshawn Lynch (4/1). The last time a runner received this award was in Super Bowl XXXII, when Terrell Davis won it with the Broncos.
Broncos’ receivers Demaryius Thomas (15/1) and Wes Welker (18/1) complete the top five most likely to win the trophy.
A total of 26 quarterbacks have earned this recognition while seven runners and six receivers have been elected. Only once a special team’s player (Desmond Howard at Super Bowl XXXI) won it, so kickers Steven Hauschka and Matt Prater are 100 to 1 in the odds for this game
