Six States Have Primaries on March 10th; Biden Is a Huge Favorite in Four

Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders? The choice for the 2020 Democratic Presidential nomination is down to two candidates.
Biden delivered some heavy body shots to the Sanders campaign by winning 10 of 14Â primaries on Super Tuesday (March 3rd). As voters go back to polls in six more states on Tuesday, March 10th (known as “mini Super Tuesday”) might Biden deliver the knockout blow?
Sportsbooks expect Biden to separate himself further from Sanders. The former Vice-President is projected to comfortably win four of the six states in the 2020 Democratic nominee odds. Sanders is a decent favorite in one (Washington), and Idaho is basically a toss-up.

Biden is heavily favored at both books to carry the vital swing state of Michigan, along with Mississippi, Missouri, and North Dakota.
Michigan A Harbinger Of Things To Come
In 2016, there were five key swing states that swung the Presidential election in favor of Republican Donald Trump over Democrat Hillary Clinton – Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Wisconsin. Michigan is the first state among this group of five to stage a primary.
There are 125 delegates up for grabs in Michigan, the most among any of the March 10 primary states. Sanders carried the state in the 2016 primaries. This time, it appears as though the state is heavily leaning toward Biden.

Both Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Lieutenant-Governor Garlin Gilchrist endorsed Biden. Former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm, a powerful presence in the Democratic party, also boarded the Biden train. So did Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan.

Biden Owns The South
His win in the South Carolina primary put Biden back in the race. His dominance of Southern States continued on Super Tuesday.
Mississippi (36) and Missouri (68) and a combined 104 delegates are on the docket March 10th, and both figure to go for Biden.
A Nexstar/Emerson College poll showed 48.1% of Missouri voters would choose Biden. Sanders drew 43.7% in the poll.
Sanders has always done poorly in the deep south. Clinton beat him by 65 points during the 2016 Mississippi primary.

Sanders Needs To Win West
Sanders is favored to take both Washington and Idaho. He won North Dakota by 40 points in 2016, yet Biden is favored in that state by both sportsbooks.
A question to mull tonight: where is Sanders favored to win *big.* The caucuses are gone. The western, semi-open primaries with large numbers of Latinos are gone. Where does Sanders run up the score without another massive change in the race?

Washington and its 89 delegates are vital to Sanders. He still leads there in the polls but Biden has closed to within five points of his advantage (26-21%). And when the latest polls were taken, Mike Bloomberg and Elizabeth Warren were both still in the race.
Those two garnered a combined 28% in polling. Where those freed-up voters opt to take their ballots could swing this race.

Joe Is Pulling Away From Bernie
Everything in this race is suddenly going Biden’s way. He won Minnesota. If he follows up with Michigan, it’ll tell voters that he’s the Democrat who can win in the Rust Belt and the Midwest.
If a @JoeBiden win in Michigan isn’t the final nail in @BernieSanders hopes of winning the Democratic nomination, the likely Biden landslide victory in Florida on March 17th, will be.

Sanders can stay alive by capturing the smaller states but he can’t earn the nomination that way. And with Bloomberg backing him, campaign funding shouldn’t be an issue for Biden going forward.
