Second Half Surge
The Seminoles brought home a huge ACC victory over Louisville on Monday by a score of 82-67, but that wide margin doesn’t tell the whole story. Chris Mack’s Cardinals actually led at halftime, leading by a 40-32 score.
That was erased by a dominant second half from Florida State, who nearly doubled up Louisville by a count of 50-27 in the game’s last 20 minutes.
That surge was fuelled by an extremely balanced attack from the Seminoles. Five different players scored in double-digits and five had at least four rebounds as well. No one on the team took more than ten shots on the way to a 50.9% clip from the field.

With Monday’s win, Florida State now has possession of first place in the ACC. Duke is just .5 games behind the Seminoles, but first belongs to Leonard Hamilton’s team for the time being.
As far as the tournament is concerned, the Seminoles are firmly a two-seed, and still have a shot to play themselves onto the one-line. The Blue Devils, fittingly, are tight with Florida State in bracketology as well. Duke sits on the two-line currently, so a potential matchup during the ACC Tournament is meaningful on multiple fronts.
‘Noles a Valuable Title Bet?
As far as resumes go, few look better than Florida State’s right now. All four of their losses are on the road, and two of them came before December 4th. Their notable wins now include Louisville (twice), Florida, Tennessee, and most of the ACC.
The Seminoles are the nation’s sixth-ranked team, in a season where the field of elite teams at the top isn’t as deep as it usually is. Baylor, Kansas, and Gonzaga at the top are anything but pushovers, but they aren’t the loaded, juggernaut teams that have won titles in years past. That’s a group that includes teams like Villanova in 2018 and 2016, and Duke in 2015.
At +2800 odds, the Seminoles are a long shot value that can’t be passed up. Leonard Hamilton’s team is one of the deepest in the country, and they’re built to withstand the rigors of March Madness.
