WWE Super ShowDown 2020 Odds and Predictions: Brock Lesnar and Bray Wyatt Both Heavily Favored

Wyatt vs Goldberg

The Fiend has been Universal Champion for four months and has already wiped out the likes of Daniel Bryan, The Miz, and Seth Rollins. Of course, Goldberg will be his toughest opponent to date, and although Wyatt is significantly favored to retain his title at -300, that number is a far cry from the -800 we saw two weeks ago. Recent rumors have indicated that Wyatt may not be holding the gold heading into WrestleMania.

The plan has always seemed to be Wyatt defending against Roman Reigns at the Show of Shows, but that bout could be in jeopardy. Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Wyatt could reportedly be facing John Cena at the event instead. It’s unclear whether that match would be for the Universal Championship.

Despite that, WWE has put too much effort into building Wyatt up for him to drop the belt so close to WrestleMania. Goldberg has no business being champion again at this stage of his career, ensuring Wyatt remains the safe choice.

Reigns vs Corbin

Speaking of Reigns, he’ll have business of his own to attend to when he puts his rivalry to rest with King Corbin once and for all inside of a steel cage. Reigns won their last two matches and is expected to go over on Thursday as well.

Reigns may not wind up vying for the Universal Championship in Tampa, but there’s no reason for Corbin to beat him and keep this feud alive. It’s imperative that both men move on from this and, thus, Reigns winning is the only way to ensure that.

Lesnar vs Ricochet

If you thought Goldberg was an underdog, look no further than Ricochet, who’s being given virtually no chance of beating Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Super ShowDown. There is absolutely no reason to believe that he could  walk out of Saudi Arabia with the title, but that doesn’t mean fans can’t look forward to the match itself.

Lesnar has a strong track record of working well with smaller Superstars. His matches with Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio last year were a ton of fun and his upcoming outing with The One and Only has the potential to be equally entertaining if booked the right way.

Furthermore, it’s already been announced that Lesnar will be putting his WWE title on the line against Drew McIntyre come WrestleMania. Needless to say, Ricochet somehow upsetting Lesnar and becoming champion would throw those plans into disarray, so this is designed to be a minor bump in the road for The Beast Incarnate.

In other words, anyone looking to make major money by betting on Ricochet to reign supreme at Super ShowDown is bound to be disappointed by the inevitable outcome of the contest.

The New Day vs John Morrison & The Miz

Meanwhile, The Miz and John Morrison have been riding a wave of momentum since reuniting at the onset of 2020 and have been the odds-on favorites to defeat The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for a while now.

Granted, they have endured back-to-back losses in tag team action the past two weeks on SmackDown, but their odds of taking the twin titles on Thursday have hardly fluctuated.

All signs point to a multi-team match of some sort involving Miz and Morrison, The New Day, The Usos, and Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania. While it doesn’t truly matter who leaves Saudi Arabia with the straps at Super ShowDown, New Day would benefit from being back in chase mode while Miz and Morrison need the titles to recover from their recent losses.

Of the four Super ShowDown matches available to bet on as of now, New Day vs. Miz and Morrison has the strongest likelihood of going either way. It could be the sole title change on the entire show, which is why Miz and Morrison should be considered the best bet.

Other Picks

Elsewhere on the card, Naomi will get her first crack at the SmackDown Women’s Championship since resurfacing at the Royal Rumble following her huge win over Carmella last week. It will mark the first time a women’s championship has been defended in Saudi Arabia, so it isn’t entirely out of the question that WWE will want to make history by giving her the gold at the event.

Then again, it’s too soon in Naomi’s comeback for her to be regaining the gold, so bettors are smart to stick with Bayley, especially if the plan is for them to extend their feud to WrestleMania where Naomi can take the title when it matters most.

Current Raw Tag Team champions Seth Rollins and Murphy will also have their hands full when they take on The Street Profits. Rollins, Murphy and AOP have been running rampant on the Raw roster for weeks, and even though Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe and The Viking Raiders haven’t been able to get the job done, Street Profits do pose a threat to their twin titles.

If the endgame to the ongoing saga between Rollins and Owens is a one-on-one match at ‘Mania, it wouldn’t make much sense for Rollins to still be one-half of the tag champs by then. Street Profits would be the best possible people to relieve them of the belts seeing as how directionless they’ve been on Raw up to this point, but the odds indicate the time isn’t right for a title change and therefore fans shouldn’t expect one just yet.

Finally, a six-man Gauntlet match featuring AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio, Andrade, Erick Rowan, Bobby Lashley and R-Truth will be held to determine the first-ever winner of the Tuwaiq Trophy. Styles is the obvious favorite with it recently being rumored that he will be waging war with The Undertaker at WrestleMania, not to mention that Mysterio has since replaced Rusev as announced on Raw (rendering whatever odds he had to win irrelevant).

It’s a stacked show on paper that promises to have significant implications concerning WrestleMania. With the April extravaganza right around the corner, look for Super ShowDown to be a night of memorable matches and moments, no matter who emerges victorious.
