Kansas rattled off their ninth straight win on Wednesday night with a 58-49 victory on the road at Big 12 foe West Virginia.

Big Wednesday Win for Kansas
The Jayhawks trailed at halftime of a tight 30-24 ballgame, but it wouldn’t be that way by the end of the night. A 34-19 advantage in the second half would give Bill Self’s team a 58-49 victory. The win over the Mountaineers was Kansas’ ninth straight victory, and it move them to a 21-3 record, including a 10-1 mark in Big 12 play.
Devon Dotson led the way with 15 points in a game that wasn’t easy for Kansas. The Jayhawks shot 44.4% from the field, and just 28.6% from behind the three-point line. Additionally, they were out-rebounded by 11, including the Mountaineers pulling in 15 offensive rebounds.
Ultimately, this wasn’t the prettiest win for Kansas. Their star, Udoka Azibuke, had just 6 points and 7 rebounds on the night. However, a road win is a road win, and on Wednesday, the Jayhawks showed a champion’s ability to pull out the tough ones.

What’s Ahead for the Jayhawks?
Two huge land mines remain in the regular season for Kansas. On February 22nd, they travel to Waco for a matchup with first-ranked Baylor, and then they’ll go to Lubbock for a date with #24 Texas Tech on March 7th. The Baylor matchup, especially, could potentially be the biggest game of the college basketball season up to that point.
Five other matchups also remain, with games against Oklahoma, Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and TCU. There isn’t a single game left that is guaranteed to be completely academic for Self’s Jayhawks.

Are Jayhawks a Strong Title Bet?
Kansas’ only losses this season are to #1 Baylor, #7 Duke, and #15 Villanova. They’ve got wins over #6 Dayton, #14 West Virginia, #16 Colorado, and #24 Texas Tech. In between those huge games, they’ve handled their business every night.
Kansas has also rattled off nine straight wins, despite the brawl against Kansas State that resulted in multiple suspensions occurring during the middle of that streak. This year, the Jayhawks have proven that they are one of the elite teams in the sport.
In a season where the truly great teams are few and far between, a team like Kansas feels like an even more valuable bet. Their odds could shorten if they defeat Baylor later this month, so if you like Kansas, now is the time to get in on them.
