- No one has seen their odds improve more then Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova with her upset over Karolina Pliskova
- Can the number one overall seed bring the trophy home in front of her hometown crowd?
- Check out who we believe will win it all below
Unlike over on the men’s side of The Australian Open where most of the top names are still playing, many of the big names on the women’s side of the bracket have already tasted defeat.
It isn’t entirely surprising seeing how evenly matched many of these players are but it is a bit eye catching to notice the amount of big name players that have gone down.
With Karolina Pliskova, Naomi Osaka, Elina Svitolina and Serena Williams now on the outside looking in, those aforementioned players represented the number 2, 3, 5 and 8 seeds in the tournament. With some of the bigger names dropping out, everyone’s odds to bring home the Australian Open trophy has increased considerably.

Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Has Been Turning Heads
Everyone has seen their odds increase recently but none more so than Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. The 28-year-old currently occupies the 30th spot in the rankings but she has performed much better than that.
The first two rounds were fairly easy for Pavlyuchenkova, winning against Nina Stojanovic in straight sets and quickly following that up with a tough win over Taylor Townsend in the next round.
Pavlyuchenkova was supposed to see her run come to an end in the next round when she was matched up with the world’s second-ranked player Karolina Pliskova.

Pavlyuchenkova shocked everyone when she not only defeated Pliskova but did so in straight sets. With her current run, she’s seen her odds improve the most but that doesn’t exactly mean you should take a chance on her to win the entire tournament.
Ashleigh Barty Continues Her Great Run
With a grand slam under her belt to go along with several other titles in 2019, Ashleigh Barty is picking up exactly where she left off.
Things started off a bit scary for the number one seed. She lost the first set in the opening round against Lesia Tsurenko but she quickly turned it around winning the following two sets with ease.

Since then, she’s been rolling through her competition, beating both Polona Hercog and Elena Rybakina without any issues.
She now has a date with Alison Riske and it’ll be a shock if she doesn’t come out the victory in that one.
Barty is the clear favorite to win the entire tournament but she does have one person that she has to keep a very close eye on.
Simona Halep Eyes Grand Slam Number 3
Everyone knows just how good Simona Halep is. She managed to grab a grand slam title in both 2018 and 2019 and there’s no doubt that she wants more.
In matchups against Jennifer Brady, Harriet Dart and Yulia Putintseva, Halep hasn’t lost a single set and hasn’t been in much trouble either.

Barty might be considered the favorite and for good reason but Halep can certainly beat her. In fact, in four career matchups against Barty, Halep has lost just once.
Best Bet to Win it All: Ashleigh Barty
Pavlyuchenkova has been great but she doesn’t have the firepower to take down the best players remaining in the draw.
Halep, on the other hand, is a huge threat to Barty. To be fair, we have to keep a close eye on 15-year-old Coco Gauff, especially with her upset win over Naomi Osaka, but Barty is going to be a tough out for anyone.
It’s tough to make a decision but if you have to, put your money on Barty to win it all in front of her hometown fans.
