With two weeks between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl there’s plenty of time to find wild props and depending on the value, some may be worth some action. One great example is the prop listed in sportsbooks asking if a lineman will catch a touchdown in Super Bowl 54.

There are always wildly entertaining props at the Super Bowl. The length of the anthem, the color of the Gatorade, etc. The best part about this prop is it would provide entertainment all game long, as every red zone possession you’d be dialed into the jumbo packages to see if you could hit this +700 longshot.

Unique Jumbo Packages an Evolving Trend This Season

Finding a 300 pounder celebrating a touchdown score used to be an eye-opening event due to the rarity. This season, however, the play seemed to happen with more and more regularity. Seven different linemen weighing at least 300 pounds found the end zone this year and one did it twice. OT Dennis Kelly scored for the second time this season in the Titans loss to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.

Teammate DT David Quessenberry, Dolphins DT Christian Wilkins, Falcons OT Ty Sambrailo, Bills OT Dion Dawkins and Buccaneers DT Vita Vea all had touchdowns this year. One thing you’ll notice is none of these players is on the Chiefs or Niners but that doesn’t mean they can’t continue the trend. The Niners use DT DeForest Buckner in jumbo packages and few coaches are as creative offensively as Kansas City’s Andy Reid.

No Better Time to Empty the Playbook

If San Francisco or Kansas City have a trick play there’s no better time to unleash it than the Super Bowl. The New England Patriots saw Tom Brady connect with linebacker Mike Vrabel in both 2004 and 2005. Vrabel is now head coach of the Tennessee Titans and saw his team use linemen for three touchdowns this year. While he isn’t in the game, it’s not impossible to imagine a scenario where the Chiefs or 49ers steal a page from his playbook.

While it wasn’t a reception, one of the most famous touchdowns in Super Bowl history was when William “the refrigerator” Perry plowed into the end zone back in 1986. These may not be examples that would win this prop bet in particular, but it does go to show coaches have been creative in the past.

High Scoring Game Gives Prop Good Chance to Hit

One other thing to consider is this could be a high scoring affair. The total is set at 54 and with the way both of these offenses have been scoring that number will likely move north by kickoff. Lots of points means lots of chances to score in a number of different ways, so why not bet on a big man to find the end zone on the biggest stage?
