Oklahoma and West Virginia played a pulverizing game in 2012, and if the 2013 meeting is half as good we are in for a treat. Sooners and Mountaineers meet this Saturday at 7 PM ET at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
Landry Jones threw for 554 yards while adding six touchdown passes, and Tavon Austin ran for 344 yards and four touchdowns in a 50-49 win by Oklahoma.
Sooners beat Louisiana-Monroe 34-0 and held them to 166 total yards last week.
“It worked for one day, and if we can do that 11 straight times, then I would be happy,” defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said. “It’s about the window. We certainly got embarrassed last year against West Virginia. I am glad we got off to a good start. It gives us confidence. We will be challenged by a much more diverse offense in West Virginia.”
West Virginia trailed by 10 points at halftime against the unknown William & Mary Tribe, but ended up winning 24-17 in week one.
“Obviously we’re going to have to show a tremendous amount of improvement on all three sides of the ball heading into Norman,” Coach Dana Holgorsen said. “I don’t care about stats, I don’t care about numbers. I care about being efficient.”
Oklahoma is 21 point favorites for the game on Saturday, and the game total is set at 58 points.
West Virginia is 4-9 ATS in its last 13 games, and Oklahoma is 21-4 SU in its last 25 games at home.
