Can Martin Truex Jr. Earn The Win?

Truex wrapped the first round of the playoff with a series-high six wins, including back-to-back victories in Las Vegas and Richmond before letting his foot off the pedal just a bit at Charlotte on Sunday where he managed to place seventh.

Now he turns his attention to the second round looking to close the gap on Kyle Busch for top spot. Dover will be the perfect place for Truex to start the second round after he won at this track earlier in the season back in May.

Can Chase Elliott Stay Hot?

Coming off an impressive win at Charlotte last week in which he led only 35 laps, Elliott has a chance to double down on Sunday afternoon. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet has placed in the top ten in three of his last four starts, including the victory in his last outing.

As if that wasn’t enough, Elliott actually won last season’s fall race at Dover. It’s a place where he has had plenty of success in the past as he’s registered six top five’s in his last seven starts there. He looks like a great bet either to win or for a top ten prop here.

Alex Bowman For Top Ten

While he won’t be on many people’s radars this weekend, Bowman deserves a long look based on two significant factors. First, he advanced to the second round from ninth place in the standings following top six finishes in two of his last three starts – including a third-place result at Charlotte last weekend.

Second, Bowman placed second at Dover in the May race after starting fifth. That was his best-ever finish at this track, so maybe he’s figured it out. I wouldn’t bet him to win it all but a Top 10 prop makes sense here.

Past Five Winners at Drydene 400

Avoid Kyle Busch

As hot as Busch was at the start of the season, he hasn’t been able to keep up that incredible pace over the past couple of months as he has just one win since June 2^nd. While he was the runner-up at Richmond a couple of weeks ago, the lack of victories hurts.

Combined with the fact that he placed 10^th at Dover earlier in the season, it should be cause for concern.

Lastly, you’re getting such short odds on him that it doesn’t make sense to take the risk. I’ll pass.
