Johanna Konta’s Wimbledon Odds Now 11-1 After Reaching French Open Semi-Finals

Johanna Konta’s 2019 Wimbledon odds have shortened dramatically over this past week, going from +3300 to +1100 after a strong showing at the French Open. The 28-year-old Brit made it all the way to the semi-finals, before falling 7–5 7–6 (7–2) to Markéta Vondroušová. Will Konta fare even better in July playing at the All England Club?

Changes to Wimbledon 2019
Tennis fans, as well as the players can expect a few different things to happen at Wimbledon when the tournament starts July 1st. No.1 Court will have an increased capacity of 12,345 fans, as well as a new fixed, and retractable roof. The tournament will introduce a tiebreak at 12-12 in the final set this year, and the women’s singles qualifying will grow from 96-128, which will now be the same size as the men’s draw.

Konta vs ?
This is going to be a huge factor with Johanna Konta’s success at Wimbledon. She’s had her fair share of ups and downs at Wimbledon, and has never really been able to find her footing.
In 2015, she drew Maria Sharapova and ended up losing. In 2016, she lost in the round of 32, and in 2017, she beat a handful of ranked players, including Simona Halep, to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Konta has gone on record saying that grass is her favorite surface, but it’s proven that hard court is where most of her success comes from.
Johanna has won three titles, and been a runner up five times in WTA Single Finals, and her record on hard court is 3-1, and her record on grass is 0-2.
Konta Enjoyed a Strong Showing at Roland-Garros
Her strong showing at Roland-Garros naturally shortened her odds to win Wimbledon. Not even in the top 10 a week ago at +3300, she’s now tied for fifth at +1200 with only a few short weeks until the tournament starts.
Tough Competition Awaits at Wimbledon
Wimbledon is no easy feat for any competitor. Ashleigh Barty, the 23-year old Australian who just beat Markéta Vondroušová in straight sets to win the French Open, will have a lot of eyes on her as she enters Wimbledon. Serena Williams, who has made the decision to skip out on the warm-up tournaments, is still coming in with +500 odds to win Wimbledon.
If Williams is able to stay healthy, she will be a force. And with Barty coming off a massive win at Roland-Garros, these two are the ones to look out for.
