The “Oddcast” Podcast: Episode 21, Oscars Picks

I believe it was the great Winston Churchill who famously said, “I don’t need to know what I’m talking about to make a decision!” Sascha and Eric have taken that definitely misattributed quote to heart this week as they try their hands at Oscars picks, despite having seen none of the movies! Luckily they bring in SBD’s newest entertainment writer, Trevor Dueck, for help.

An experienced movie reviewer, Trevor provides solid insight into the nominees and advises who will win each of the major categories. Then Eric and Sascha ignore his advice and make their picks based on far dumber reasons … like pizza. On the surface, the whole thing may appear to be a hamfisted mockery of the Oscars; but it’s actually a terribly clever and subversive metaphor for the awards show’s lack of diversity.
