- The European Tour’s Betfred British Masters tees off Thursday, May 9th
- Tommy Fleetwood is the strong favorite to take home the hardware
- We’ve narrowed down the golfers with the best chance of emerging victorious
With the new golf schedule, the PGA Championship has been moved up from August to May so the Betfred British Masters offers the final chance to tune up for the season’s second major.
This tournament has produced some excellent champions since it made its way back onto the European Tour schedule in 2015, but each year the event has moved around to different courses making this a difficult one to predict. The tournament favorite and host is Tommy Fleetwood.

Tommy Fleetwood a Solid Choice to Win British Masters
It’s actually shocking that Tommy Fleetwood hasn’t won on either the European or PGA Tours this season given that he seemingly has been in contention every week. In his last event he paired with Sergio Garcia to finish second in New Orleans, and he’s held 36 hole leads at the Arnold Palmer Invitational & Players Championship.

He’s coming in with confidence given his victory at what amounts to target practice Tuesday at the Hero Challenge. While he’ll be pulled in many directions as tournament host this week, which might cause him to lose focus, Fleetwood is a strong choice to hoist his fifth Euro Tour trophy.
Tommy Fleetwood’s Last 5 Tournaments
Tournament | Result |
---|---|
Zurich Classic of New Orleans | 2nd |
RBC Heritage | T-25th |
The Masters | T-36th |
The Players Championship | T-5th |
Arnold Palmer Invitational | T-3rd |
Andy Sullivan Due for Another Victory
Andy Sullivan (+3300) racked up three wins in 2015 and somehow hasn’t won since. The affable Englishman will receive strong support this week and he’s coming in with good form, posting T-7, T-11 and T-21 finishes in his last three tourneys.
We gave @AndySulliGolf 500 balls to see if he could make a hole-in-one.

This is also an excuse for you to watch one of the best videos the European Tour has ever put out with Andy Sullivan given 500 balls to record a hole in one. Simply put, it’s worth your time.
